The Principal Game Data Analyst serves as the technical lead and vertical owner for game analytics across multiple games. You will translate business strategy into a data-driven roadmap, own the end-to-end analytics lifecycle for the vertical, and drive measurable improvements in player retention, monetization, and overall game performance. You will mentor and elevate the analytics team, establish scalable data practices, and partner with cross-functional leaders to align analytics outputs with product, design, and live operations.
 
This role is a full-time, on-site position based 5 days a week at our Downtown Vancouver studio.

In this role, you can expect to:

    Key Accountabilities
     
    Provide Cross-functional Support
  • Lead cross-functional partnerships across the organization to translate business goals and data needs into strategic analytics initiatives.
  • Proactively optimize reporting processes, diagnosing inefficiencies and delivering scalable, high-impact enhancements.
  • Own and guide large-scale data projects, delivering data-driven insights with clear business impact and executive-aligned recommendations.

    Data Exploration and Analysis
  • Lead hands-on, exploratory analyses to answer high-priority business questions and uncover strategic opportunities.
  • Apply rigorous statistical methods to identify trends, correlations, and causal patterns; translate findings into actionable guidance.
  • Craft compelling data visualizations and narratives that empower stakeholders to act with confidence.

    Dashboard and Report Management
  • Own the design, development, and maintenance of a comprehensive suite of dashboards and reports tailored to executive, product, and operations needs.
  • Ensure dashboards and reports are accurate, timely, and deeply aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Deliver ad-hoc analyses and reporting, maintaining high standards of quality and clarity.

    Product Feature Analysis and Optimization
  • Measure the success of newly released product features using key metrics and data analysis.
  • Drive data-driven iteration and optimization of product features to enhance performance and user experience.
  • Own data analytics requirements early in game development including telemetry requirements, alpha and beta performance testing, and game launch analysis.

    Leadership
  • Mentor and lead junior/intermediate data analytic team members.
  • Perform performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
  • Delegate tasks as appropriate.

To be successful in this role, your background includes:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
  • 7+ years of industry data analysis experience, with solid knowledge of statistical methods.
  • 3+ years of industry data experience in games (mobile, console, PC), online casino, slot games, or any high volume B2C mobile apps.
  • Expert SQL skills and experience querying very large data sets.
  • Proven ability to thrive using multiple mixed, varied, and inconsistent data sources.
  • Fundamental knowledge of project management methodologies.
  • Regular communication with stakeholders from other departments and drive actionable items for continuous improvement.
  • Experience with Google BigQuery, Tableau, JIRA and/or other project management software.
  • Experience working for a social or mobile game developer.
  • Understanding of game design concepts and principles.
