The role: We are hiring a hands-on Finance Manager who will be a direct resource to firm leadership, reporting to the COO. You’ll play a central role in the firm’s accounting and financial reporting, bring structure and visibility to planning, and continuously improve how the function runs using modern tools and automation.
The team: You’ll join a small, collaborative finance team, with hands-on support for day-to-day processing and operational workflows for the management company and general partner entities rather than the investment funds. Accuracy and deadlines matter here, and you’ll be counted on for both, while focusing your time on higher-value work: FP&A, management reporting, and process improvement.
What you’ll do:
- FP&A. Build and maintain financial forecasts for revenue and cost centers and compile into a comprehensive budget to drive business decisions.
- Reporting. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting materials for senior management; manage internal requests and recurring deliverables with clear ownership and deadlines.
- Systems and automation. Help shape and optimize the firm finance tech stack. Improve workflows and data availability/quality, reduce manual steps, and implement AI and automation where it can make meaningful improvements.
- Accounting operations. Provide backup coverage and review support for the team responsible for the core accounting processes, including accounts payable and receivable (AR/AP), payroll, general ledger (GL), and month-end close, with strong controls and documentation.
- Tax coordination. Coordinate the firm and GP tax processes, working alongside the Big 4 provider that prepares the filings. You will manage inputs, timelines, and follow-ups to keep the process smooth, accurate and on schedule.
- Planning support. Support senior management on longer-term organizational and headcount planning with the analysis and cost visibility behind those decisions.
Who we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field.
- Detailed and highly tech-savvy with experience owning and improving workflows across tools/software.
- Comfort operating at both a strategic and hands-on level in a growing organization.
- Strong Excel skills required. QuickBooks Online (or comparable GL system) experience is a plus.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in accounting, corporate finance, or FP&A, ideally within public accounting, financial services, investment management, or professional services.
- Exposure to private equity, venture capital, or fund accounting is a plus, but not required.
- CPA, CPA candidacy, or public-accounting experience is a plus, but not required.
- This role must be onsite 3-4 days per week in our Santa Monica, CA office (Los Angeles area).
- All the resources you’ll need to learn and grow.
- Independence to run with your ideas.
- Joining an elite team that works with some of the most sophisticated investors and entrepreneurs in the world.
- World-class benefit programs, including options for health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401K plan (with matching), generous vacation, and sick leave.
- Delicious, daily lunches and snacks.
- Beautiful office space with amazing ocean views.
