Duties and Responsibilities
Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS. Primary responsibilities include engineering analysis, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Pipe and Valve Specifications; Failure Analysis; Accident Analysis; Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation; Pipe Stress Analysis; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews.
Engineering services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.
Education
BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering. 5+ years’ experience. OR A MS with 8+ years’ experience. OR A BS with 10+ years’ experience or more
Experience/Skills Required:
The candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 10 years design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry. The candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of experience working at one or more DOE facilities. Candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a nuclear industry/facility.
Candidate must demonstrate experience creating and revising documentation in one or more of the following areas: Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Pipe and Valve Specifications; Failure Analysis; Accident
Analysis; Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation; Pipe Stress Analysis; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews.
Candidate must be able to perform weekly field walk downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed. These walk downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances of over half a mile, climbing of ladders to access remote areas, dressing out in protective clothing and environments where a respirator is required.
Experience/Skills Preferred:
Possession of an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years is preferred.
Previous SRS Design Engineering experience and working knowledge of SRNS design processes and procedures are preferred.
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Area Security Access: : Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments.
Work Environment / Physical Demands:
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Light to moderate lifting may be required for packages and other items, ability to walk short distances, may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
Due to government and/or federal regulations for this position, proof of U.S. citizenship is required.
