As a Principal Engineer, Supplier Quality – Sourced Products at GE Appliances, you will lead quality initiatives that drive improvements and enhance the customer experience within our Global Specialty Products (GSP) team. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to proactively address field quality issues for Microwave Ovens and Ventilation Hoods and play a key role in advancing product performance through New Product Implementation (NPI) program launches. How You'll Create Possibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a quality improvement strategy for the GSP team, partnering with suppliers and cross-functional teams across regions
- Identify the main drivers of Cost of Quality metrics (e.g., warranty, damage, customer education, installation) and lead projects to enhance these areas
- Guide product quality for NPI programs impacting GSP products, meeting program objectives in safety, quality, delivery, and cost
- Lead proactive quality initiatives that identify potential field quality issues through robust testing and continuously enhance product testing programs with GSP suppliers
- Partner with Customer Relations teams and Field Technicians to swiftly address issues and improve the ownership experience for our customers
- Coordinate with the GSP team and third-party resources on reworking defective products, leading inspections, and ensuring proper adherence to procedures
- Collaborate with Distribution and Product Damage teams to identify root causes of product damage and implement sustainable corrective measures
- Work closely with GSP suppliers and sub-tier suppliers to resolve issues by initiating containment, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions
- Support the creation of robust manufacturing control plans with GSP suppliers and cross-functional teams to improve process control, product testing, and audits
- Partner with product delivery and installation teams to enhance product ownership experience and address recurring field installation issues
What You'll Bring to Our Team
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or equivalent technical experience
- 7 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, Engineering Technology, or Operations within a manufacturing setting
- Demonstrated ability to develop and apply quality control tools (such as FMEA, control plans, and process maps) to solve process challenges
- Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams to drive change and innovation
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to lead and manage multiple projects in a team-oriented environment
- Self-starter with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing new ideas
- Proven ability to develop and execute project plans independently in both global and domestic settings
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microwave Oven and/or Ventilation Hood products in a technical, manufacturing, or quality role
- Experience working with customer relations teams and field service technicians
- Lean or Six Sigma certification
- Ability to simplify complex information and prepare concise executive summaries
- Familiarity with Field Quality data analysis and SAS data systems
