About the Role

As a Principal System Engineer, you'll be responsible for hardware and software bring-up, feature enablement, and software configurations of the Digital Cockpit system/high-performance compute node. You'll be responsible for developing reusable, modular software packages for the platform and migrating packages to the new BSP and Android pastries.

This opportunity requires a strong technical individual contributor with experience developing core system-level software for embedded products.

What You Will Do

  • Digital cockpit hardware, software bring-up, and feature enablement for intelligent cockpit platform products.
  • SoC(EA9/EA8/EA7, QC6/QC8etc) and peripheral bring up activities
  • Core BSP software development and debugging.
  • System software configuration to support multiple HW and peripheral variants.
  • System boot and runtime performance optimization.
  • Android framework extensions to support automotive feature development.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software and hardware engineers, to integrate features and customization into the Cockpit system.
  • Help drive issue triage and participate in live debugging.

What You Need

  • 10+ years of experience in embedded systems, focusing on Android, Linux, and QNX.
  • Experience in kernel, device driver, and device tree development
  • Experience in system schematic reading and pin mux configurations
  • Experience in Android system and framework development and debugging
  • Experience in system performance measurement and optimization
  • Domain expertise in one or more areas of display, camera, USB, and ethernet is preferred.
  • Knowledge of system-level debugging using various tools like Trace32, protocol analyzer
  • Strong C/C++ programming skills
  • Bachelor or master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electronics, Electrical Engineering

What is Nice to Have

  • Experience working with AUTOSAR.
  • Experience in automotive functional safety.
  • Experience with program management tools like IBM ALM, Jira, Confluence, Sharepoint, etc.
  • Agile experience

What Makes You Eligible

  • Be willing to travel up to 10%, domestic and international travel
  • Be willing to work in the Novi office. This role is eligible for a hybrid working model.
  • Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
