The Custom Silicon Solutions (CSS) team is seeking a highly motivated and technology focused Applications Engineer to join our silicon technology development team, focusing on PMIC and hybrid mixed signal/power products. The successful candidate is solutions oriented, passionate about technology, demonstrates strong problem-solving and communications skills with the ability to self-lead and work as part of a geographically diverse team.
The CSS team develops silicon technologies enabling the feature sets of today’s high end portable consumer devices. The role is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of technology that is enabling how we live in today’s technology driven world through the development of class leading, high efficiency, mixed-signal, and power management technologies.
The product applications engineer role is to support the customers design-in process with power technology expertise, development tools, reference designs, documentation, and technical design-in support. In addition, a crucial part of the role is to develop and execute on system-level validation testing.
- The products developed by the CSS team include the following technologies:
- LDO, BUCK, BOOST, BUCK-BOOST, CHARGE-PUMP, SIMO (Single-Input / Multiple Outputs)
- IBB (Inverted BUCK-BOOST), ICP (Inverted CHARGE-PUMP), ILDO (Inverted LDO)
- Power Sequencer, Oscillators, PLL, ADC, DAC, I/O, SPI, SPMI, I2C
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Specification, development, and implementation of platforms for product validation, evaluation, and demonstration.
- Develop reference and recommended designs to support customers through their design-in process.
- Support internal teams and customers in the resolution of technical issues.
- Generate customer facing documentation such as datasheets, specifications, and user guides.
- Design, bench testing and debugging of electronic circuits.
Minimum qualifications:
- Honours Degree in Electrical/Electronic, Electronic & Computer Engineering or similar
- 10 years plus industry experience in a power management technology engineering role
Essential skills:
- Strong knowledge of analog, digital and power management circuit theory
- Demonstrated experience in the field of power management technologies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Fluent spoken and written English.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative team environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to deconstruct and understand complex technical documentation
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools
- Knowledge of power conversion architectures and experience in the evaluation of Power Management ICs (PMICs) Desired skills
- Experience with Python software development
- Knowledge of requirements creation, traceability, and validation processes
- Knowledge of semiconductor development and validation process
- Experience with the process of PCB parasitic extraction and assessment of its impact on the performance of the different types of power converter architectures
