Are you a lead software engineer looking for the next step in your career? If the opportunity to work in a global industry leader with a diverse culture excites you, this may be the role for you.
With Audinate, you’ll find your connection to the world of sound and vision.
We lead the world in AV networking media to pioneer the way people see and hear. Our products seamlessly manage hundreds of audio and video channels with one network, making us the industry standard. You’ll find us in the largest companies and institutions like the Sydney Opera House, NFL Media Headquarters, Microsoft, and even a 900-year old cathedral featured in Harry Potter.
Our core values are the foundation of everything we do: Excellence, Courage, Integrity, Innovation, and Teamwork.
If this resonates with you, this is the place for you.
No matter your role, you’ll feel part of our team and contribute to pioneering the future of AV so that everyone can be seen and heard.
In addition to a competitive salary, annual bonus and equity incentive plan you’ll be part of our diverse, values-based culture. You’ll also enjoy a range of benefits such as flexible working (3 days per week in office), home office support, and volunteering leave.
What you'll be working on
Audinate is building a new generation of products for installed AV. A newly formed engineering group is behind it, the first products are in development, and there's a multi-year platform journey ahead: embedded devices, cloud services, and the web, all working as one system.
That system won't exist in isolation. Installed AV is a world of devices, control systems, and platforms from many vendors. Our products need to control it, integrate with it, and open our own platform outward in return. Inside Audinate it's the same story, where the new products build on cloud technology we already run, and it all has to converge into one coherent architecture.
We're looking for an engineer with the technical depth for the platform and the product sense to turn a roadmap into the right engineering calls. You'll drive architecture across devices, cloud, and web, partner closely with product managers and technical leads, and help sort out whatever's unclear or unowned along the way. You'll report to the leader of this engineering group. It spans several teams and more than 20 engineers.
You will
- Partner with engineering and product leads on cross-cutting technical decisions: platform direction, build vs buy, architectural trade-offs
- Act as the engineering interface to product for your domain, translating product goals into buildable systems and surfacing the technical constraints that shape the roadmap
- Drive architecture across the platform: devices, cloud services, and the web
- Identify and reduce technical risk that no single team owns
- Raise the bar on how we build: test strategy, automation, development processes, and what it takes to keep a multi-team platform shippable
- Champion AI-assisted engineering: identify high-leverage workflows, prove them out, and spread them across teams
What we're looking for
- Deep experience with connected systems: you've designed and shipped platforms where devices and cloud services work together reliably
- Strong distributed systems fundamentals: networking, protocol design, reliability, observability
- At home in the messiness of real-world integration: protocols, APIs, third-party systems
- Hands-on with AI-assisted development: you get real value from the tools because you've built the guardrails, workflows, or tooling to deal with their limits
- Strong hands-on coder, at home across languages and layers of the stack: today that's TypeScript/Node.js, GraphQL, MongoDB, Redis, AWS, and Kubernetes, but you reach for whatever the work needs, familiar or not
- Technical influence without authority: you've shaped architecture and engineering culture through credibility, not headcount
- You ask the questions that get to the real issue and leave conversations clearer than you found them
- Comfortable with ambiguity: you turn a vague mandate into a concrete plan
- Professional AV or audio networking background is a plus, not a requirement
Skills Required
- Deep experience designing and shipping platforms integrating devices and cloud services
- Strong distributed systems fundamentals (networking, protocol design, reliability, observability)
- Practical experience with protocols, APIs, and integrating third-party systems
- Hands-on with AI-assisted development and building guardrails, workflows, or tooling
- Strong hands-on coding across languages and stack layers
- Experience with TypeScript and Node.js
- Experience with GraphQL, MongoDB, and Redis
- Experience with AWS and Kubernetes (cloud services and orchestration)
- Ability to drive cross-team architecture and influence without direct authority
- Comfortable with ambiguity and translating vague mandates into concrete plans
- Professional AV or audio networking background
