Principal Engineer — Full Stack

Software Engineering  ·  Agoura Hills, CA (in-office)

Starting at $135,000 to $145,000 + Bonus

Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k)

About the Role

We are a Salesforce-centric organization with a modern, multi-platform engineering stack spanning Salesforce, MuleSoft, Informatica Cloud, Python, PostgreSQL, and AWS. We are looking for a seasoned engineer who is excellent at engineering fundamentals first and tied to no single platform second — someone who can operate across our ecosystem and, just as importantly, partner with the specialists already on the team.

You do not need to be a Salesforce expert. You do need to be the kind of engineer other strong engineers want in the room: someone who picks up unfamiliar systems quickly, reasons about design across platforms, and can sit down with a MuleSoft or backend specialist and push their thinking forward on their own turf. Over time you will act as a senior technical anchor across our stack — writing and reviewing code, shaping technical design, and helping the team work as a unit rather than a set of parallel lanes.

This role suits someone with genuine drive: curious, adaptable, and hungry to take on more over time. It is the kind of role that grows with the person in it.

What You'll Do

●       Design, build, and maintain solutions across our stack — backend services, integrations, data flows, and (with ramp-up) Salesforce customizations.

●       Serve as a technical partner and advisor to specialists across the team — reasoning about MuleSoft integrations with our integration engineers, backend and data design with our database engineers, and Salesforce approaches with our platform engineers — challenging and strengthening technical decisions across domains.

●       Lead and elevate code reviews and technical discussion, raising the bar for quality, maintainability, and consistency, and helping establish these as everyday practice across the team.

●       Own and improve our deployment and release process — CI/CD pipelines, environment and branch management, and safe, repeatable production deployments.

●       Build and maintain integrations between Salesforce and external systems using MuleSoft and APIs.

●       Develop backend logic, data processing, and automation in Python; work with PostgreSQL for data modeling, queries, and performance; leverage AWS for hosting, compute, and supporting cloud services.

●       Explore and evaluate new technologies where they can meaningfully improve how we build.

●       Ramp into Salesforce development and configuration, eventually contributing to and advising on Salesforce solutions.

●       Troubleshoot production issues across systems and drive them to resolution.

●       Mentor engineers, share knowledge, and help raise the technical bar of the people around you.

Requirements

What We're Looking For (Required)

●       7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of principal- or staff-level technical contribution (years can be adjusted for the right person).

●       Strong general-purpose programming skills and solid computer-science fundamentals — platform-agnostic, and someone who learns new technologies quickly.

●       Hands-on experience with at least three of the following, and the demonstrated ability to ramp into the rest:

○       Python (or a comparable backend language)

○       Relational databases such as PostgreSQL

○       Cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS

○       Integration / middleware platforms (MuleSoft, or similar iPaaS / API integration experience)

○       JavaScript and modern web development

●       Experience designing and reasoning about system architecture and integrations across multiple platforms.

●       Strong code-review skills and a genuinely high bar for code quality and engineering practices — someone for whom rigor is a held value, not a tolerated process.

●       The ability to earn influence through credibility rather than title — able to partner with and constructively challenge experienced engineers in domains that aren't their own, and move them without formal authority.

●       Practical experience with CI/CD, version control (Git), and managing deployments to production.

●       Excellent communication skills — able to explain technical trade-offs to engineers and non-engineers, and to give clear, constructive feedback.

●       A demonstrated ability to onboard into unfamiliar codebases and systems quickly and become productive with minimal hand-holding.

●       Drive and ambition — a demonstrated pattern of seeking out more scope, more responsibility, and growth over the course of a career.

Nice to Have (Preferred)

●       Salesforce development or administration experience (Apex, Lightning/LWC, flows, integrations). This is a plus, not a gate — we expect the right person to learn it on the job.

●       MuleSoft experience specifically (Anypoint Platform, DataWeave).

●       Experience integrating Salesforce with external / back-office systems.

●       ETL / data integration experience (e.g., Informatica or similar).

●       AWS certifications, or Salesforce certifications (Platform Developer, Integration Architect).

●       Experience in a regulated or enterprise environment with formal release and change-management processes.

What Makes Someone Successful Here

●       You're a fast, self-directed learner who treats an unfamiliar platform as a puzzle, not an obstacle.

●       You think in terms of systems and trade-offs, not just code.

●       You raise the level of the people around you — you're the kind of engineer whose presence makes a team better, not just more staffed.

●       You earn respect through what you know and how you collaborate, and you're comfortable partnering with — and challenging — engineers more tenured than you in areas that aren't your specialty.

●       You bring energy and initiative. You're not content to settle into a lane; you look for where you can do more and grow.

●       You communicate clearly and collaborate well, even when you're the most senior engineer in the room.

Benefits
  • Competitive compensation of $135,000-$145,000 with bonus potential
  • Hybrid flexibility: Fridays remote
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Generous PTO and paid holidays
  • A culture that values innovation, autonomy, and impact
