The Digital Embedded Solutions Team seeks an embedded system/software expert who has deep knowledge and experience on MCU and complex SoC architectures, and who has hands-on coding experience on that context. Eligible candidate will support the Software & Security Group in the driver, firmware, and embedded application design and development activities of ADI’s cutting-edge complex SoCs for the Digital Embedded Solutions Team at ADI’s Istanbul Bilisim Vadisi – Vadi Istanbul Office.

The Position:

Analog Devices, Inc. is looking for Principal Embedded Software Engineer to join Digital Embedded Solutions Istanbul Team. The successful candidate will work alongside a very experienced and passionate group of engineers and managers, contributing to the architectural design and development of ADI’s most advanced and technically challenging products.

Job Description Summary:

Principal Embedded Software Engineer Shall

  • Translate product requirements into SW and HW requirements. 
  • Collaborate with the digital team to design and develop software System-on-Chip (SoC) solutions.
  • Work with SoC architects to find areas of improvement in the SoC design from the firmware and system perspectives.
  • Develop software for performance analysis and profiling.
  • Propose and design HW assisted solutions that make firmware/software development and execution more efficient.
  • Contribute to the design and development of the embedded SW, microcode, and kernel drivers for our SoC products.
  • Ensure proper software development, testing, debugging, integration, and documentation.
  • Be an excellent communicator and team player.
  • Be able to independently operate in a global, diverse software development community across many geographical locations.
  • Exhibit professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices.

Education / Experience

  • BS/MS or PhD in Computer Science, Computer or Electronics Engineering, or related field with 15+ years of industry experience.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Familiar with silicon design and development cycle and understand the importance of hardware/software co-design principles throughout the design and development cycle.
  • Experience with developing firmware and software for heterogeneous SoC architectures.
  • Experience in developing bootloader and kernel drivers, preferably in both unsecure and trusted execution environments.
  • Experience in silicon and board bring-up, and comfortable with debugging silicon, hardware and software using IDE and JTAG/SWD debuggers.
  • Experience with using Linux as a development environment.
  • Good understanding of real time operating systems concepts and the use of FreeRTOS, Zephyr, and/or Linux as an embedded operating system.
  • Proficient in C and/or C++ programming with best engineering and software development practices.
  • Good understanding of RISC-V and ARM cores and bus architectures.
  • Experience with standard communication interfaces and protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, and Ethernet.
  • Experience in system development with FPGA-APU SoC platforms.
  • Hands on experience with debugging tools (such as GDB, J-Link, OpenOCD, etc.)
  • Familiar with CI/CD and industry standard tools such as Git, Jenkins/GitHub Actions, Jira, Confluence, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with a proactive, can-do attitude.

Nice To Have

  • Experience in the use of CMSIS Packs, IAR, KEIL and Visual Studio/VS Code IDEs.
  • Familiar with network protocols and stacks such as IP, TCP/UDP, and Ethernet based industrial communication protocols.
  • Experience with hardware emulators such as virtual platforms and/or QEMU is a plus.
  • Comfortable with reading board schematics.
  • Experience with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
