We’re looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our Creator Foundation Team, a horizontal team focusing on building collaboration and social tools for creators and developers. In this role, you will work on features that enhance how creators work together and grow their businesses.

Your work will center on collaboration, such as granular permission management, revenue-sharing capabilities, and social features. Our vision is to enable creators to manage teams, share resources, and help foster stronger connections amongst each other, helping them transition into top studios. 

In addition, you will be able to contribute to the overall platform infrastructure of the Creator Hub, building towards the foundation of all Creator experience on Roblox. You will report to the Engineering Manager of Creator Foundation. This role will be hybrid in San Mateo 3 days a week (Tues, Wed, Thurs). 

You Will:

  • Lead technical decision making and guide the development team.
  • Lead engineering & development for our backend services and systems
  • Collaborate with product and design to push the boundary of what is possible

You Have:

  • 9+ years of experience in developing and deploying top user facing applications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a similar technical field
  • Experience approaching a problem from different angles, analyzing pros and cons of different solutions

You Are:

  • An outstanding software engineer with 8+ years experience shipping high impact projects 
  • A team player, and love collaborating with others to push the boundaries
  • Curious about new technology and product experiences
  • Proficient in C#, Java, Go or any other object-oriented programming language
  • Experienced in building and supporting backend applications at scale
  • Consistent with building and delivering projects from conception to production
  • Understands and is thoughtful about tradeoffs

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

Annual Salary Range

$267,720$331,640 USD

Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
