About the Role
The candidate is responsible for researching and developing Portable Speaker, PartyBox Speaker, and Guitar AMP Speaker acoustic system for Harman Consumer Products.
The candidate MUST have extensive experience in playing the electric guitar and be familiar with top-brand Guitar AMP products.
What You Will Do
- Responsible for the acoustic design, development, and innovation of Consumer Audio products.
- Conduct the sound conceptualization, acoustic design, implementation and testing of new technologies for Consumer Audio products, especially for Guitar AMP speaker.
- Design advanced acoustic systems and fine-tune performance for high-quality Consumer Audio products, setting new benchmarks in audio industry.
- Collaborate with various teams to review acoustic related designs, providing expert insights and innovative ideas for optimization.
- Combine traditional acoustic engineering with advanced DSP technology to push the acoustic performance envelope for Consumer Audio products.
- Drive for innovation, new technology development and continuous acoustic package upgrading for Consumer Audio products.
- Research new acoustic component or solution to make Consumer Audio products unique.
- Work with global Harman research/engineering team and external research institutes or universities for new technology innovation and applications.
- Submit minimum of 2 technical patents in the US or Europe.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Bachelor or above degree of acoustics or music major.
- Experienced in Electrical Guitar playing.
- 8+ years’ acoustics background experience.
- Strong knowledge in acoustic theory, acoustic test, and acoustic simulation.
- Proficient in speaker system acoustic design, sound tuning and subjective evaluation.
- Proficient in creating specifications, guidelines, and documentation that clearly defines and supports the improvement of the acoustic engineering process.
- Proficient in advanced acoustic solution research.
- Familiar with acoustic related algorithms and digital signal processing.
- Proficient in using Soundcheck, Klippel, Audio Precision test system, etc.
- Familiar with production line level manufacture, assembly, and test system.
- Experience in working with vendors and contract manufacturers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Can-do attitude and self-motivation.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficient in both spoken and written English.

- Golden Ears certification.
- Published technical papers on reputable magazines or technical journals.
- Experience in working with overseas companies in Europe and US.
