How you will make an impact

The Principal Engineer 1 helps expand, improve, and support Halozyme information technology infrastructure and associated services. They configure and administer core technologies, including but not limited to Windows Server, Azure applications and services, Okta, Palo Alto firewalls, enterprise Wi-Fi, VMWare ESXi and Nutanix virtualization.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Problem solve issues related to the network, servers, and business applications in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

  • Manage Microsoft Active Directory– User and group management, Network Services, File Services, Interoperability with M365 / Entra / Azure Environment, on-prem to cloud migration of services.

  • Manage Okta SSO environment and interoperability with business applications, including authentication and security.

  • Design and implement LAN and WAN networks to support future expansion of the network.

  • Configure and support Palo Alto firewalls, including security and NAT policies, implement fault tolerance, Prisma access, WAN and VPN configuration.

  • Manage VMWare and Nutanix environments – functionality, maintenance, optimization, hardening.

  • Collaborate with Director of Cyber Security to implement network and application security hardening and monitoring.

  • Design, implement, and manage Enterprise Wi-Fi solutions.

  • Configure and manage the patching and updating of all on-prem infrastructure hardware  and supporting the on-premises video conference room hardware, software, and updates.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 12 years related experience (An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered)

  • Experience configuring and maintaining Okta, Palo Alto firewalls, Prisma Access / Global Protect VPN. Current Palo Alto certification strongly preferred.

  • Experience programming Meraki, Dell, and Brocade switches.

  • Experience configuring Meraki and Ubiquity Wi-Fi solutions.

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft ADS, VMWare ESX and Nutanix virtualization technologies, SQL Server, Terminal Services, Certificate services, authentication management.

  • Solid grasp of TCP/IP and network services such as DNS, DHCP, VLANs, RADIUS, ACLs, NAT, etc.

  • Understanding of multicast networking as applicable to video conference room hardware deployment and support and familiarity with network and endpoint management and security solutions including Intune, Manage Engine, Lansweeper, PRTG, Rapid 7.

  • Ability to fix issues using Wireshark and interpret results.

  • Previous knowledge working with validated environments, CGxP, and CFR21 part 11 systems is strongly preferred.

  • Experience managing systems that require change control, and associated documentation.

  • Experience with switches, firewalls, physical and virtual servers, PCs, scanners, Polycom and Shure video conferencing hardware

  • Availability evenings and weekends for projects and critical issues as needed.

The most likely base pay range for this position is $143K - $200k per year. Several factors, such as experience, tenure, skills, and particular business needs, will determine an individual’s exact level of compensation. Base salary is only one element of employee compensation at Halozyme. Total compensation could include bonuses, sales incentives, and equity awards.
