The York, Pennsylvania site of BAE Systems is in search of a Principal Electrical Supplier Quality Engineer with a primary focus in Electrical Assemblies and Electronics. In this role as a Principal Electrical Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for electrical and electronic assembly supplier quality interactions on a given set of programs. You'll be responsible to investigate, evaluate, and resolve supplier quality problems by conducting defect investigations, analyzing defect trends, and leading continuous improvement projects. You'll lead and conduct containment efforts, maintain traceability of actions and delegate accordingly, to ensure the swift containment of supplier non-conformances. Additionally, you will have frequent interactions and status reporting with internal and external customers. In this role, you will be responsible in supporting multiple projects to completion, in support of the overall program. It entails the enforcement of purchase order (PO) requirements, supplier non-conformance management, and supplier performance improvement, including thorough root cause analysis and effective corrective action. As an experienced member of the Procurement Quality Support Engineering (PQSE) group, you will provide mentorship and guidance to junior SQE's to further their development within the team. Overall duties include the following:
  • Evaluate the impact of nonconforming product and assess suppliers' corrective actions.
  • Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances.
  • Evaluate First Article Inspections per the AS9102 requirements.
  • Work with suppliers to meet BAE System's requirements.
  • Evaluate First Article Test plans and reports for execution and approval.
  • Drive "Zero Defect" mentality within the supply base and A3 problem solving tool practices.
  • Support travel of up to 25%, visiting vendors and suppliers.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or technical discipline, and six years related work experience, or the overall equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with the manufacturing process of Electronics and/or Electrical Assemblies.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical drawing interpretation and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T).
  • Strong working knowledge of Failure Analysis, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective/ Preventative Actions.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality Systems and AS9102B First Article Requirements or comparable industry standards.
  • Highly effective communication skills including written, verbal, and presentation generation.
  • A practical problem solver, able to collaborate with internal and external customers effectively.
  • Computer skills to include MS Office Suite and related industry software applications.
  • Able to support travel of up to 25%.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in Defense Prime Contract environment.
  • Experience with product line validation, test plans, test equipment and product qualification.
  • Specific experience with electrical assemblies for the Defense Industry.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma concepts and tools (e.g. Green / Black Belt).
  • Toyota Production System (TPS), Toyota Way, A3 problem solving tool.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $105254 - $178931
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
