Purpose Statement:
The Principal Product Owner also known as Product Owner Lead for Japan (Pricing Transformation), serves as the Japan market Product Owner for Boston Scientific’s commercial contract management platform that underpins the region’s pricing approvals, quotation workflows, e-sign, contract execution processes and deal analysis. This Lead role defines and prioritizes Japan-specific product requirements in the context of scalable APAC strategic priorities, ensuring Singularity delivers intuitive, accurate, and seamless experiences across the pre-order to contract lifecycle.
The Product Owner Lead works closely with the Senior Commercial Analyst – APAC (Pricing Transformation, UX teams, JARVIS teams, Product Management, Commercial Excellence, Commercial Operations, Order Fulfilment, Finance, Compliance, and individual business units, serving as a key interface to drive cross-functional consensus and alignment. The foundational work delivered in this role will enable the creation of powerful A.I.–enabled workflows, strengthening automation, pricing quality, transparency, and commercial competitiveness across APAC.
Responsibilities:
- Own and prioritize Japan’s product backlog for Singularity, ensuring alignment with APAC strategic priorities and the Singularity Lead’s roadmap.
- Drive strong alignment with individual Japan BU teams and central teams to ensure business needs are accurately captured and reflected in product decisions.
- Translate Japan business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and user experience requirements across pricing approvals, quotations, deal analysis, e-sign, and contract workflows.
- Act as the primary interface with Japan stakeholders to gather requirements, drive consensus, and align on workflow design and product direction.
- Work closely with the Senior Commercial Experience Analyst – Singularity APAC to validate data, insights, and workflow dependencies.
- Collaborate with UX teams to design and validate intuitive, high-quality user journeys across the pre-order to contract lifecycle.
- Partner with JARVIS teams, Product Management, ComEx, ComOps, Order Fulfilment, Finance, and Compliance to ensure seamless end-to-end integration.
- Lead Japan UAT cycles, scenario validations, and workflow walkthroughs to ensure smooth feature delivery.
- Support change management and champion enablement to ensure market readiness and successful adoption for new releases.
- Monitor user adoption, data quality, and workflow feedback, driving iterative improvements into the product backlog.
- Ensure Singularity outputs (pricing, contract terms, quotation data) integrate cleanly into downstream systems such as Salesforce and MyOrders.
- Ensure Japan workflows adhere to APAC design principles, data standards, and global “to-be” process guidelines to maintain consistency and scalability.
- Lead structured feedback loops to capture user insights, adoption metrics, and workflow challenges, converting them into actionable enhancements.
- Act as the Japan-side interface for capability prioritization discussions, ensuring alignment with both Japan and APAC leadership.
- Contribute foundational workflow and data structures that enable future AI-enabled capabilities in deal analysis, approval guidance, and pricing quality.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in product ownership, business systems, commercial excellence, or digital workflow platforms in Japan.
- Strong understanding of Japan’s commercial processes, including pricing approvals, quotation workflows, contract lifecycle management, and distributor/dealer structures.
- Proven ability to translate complex commercial requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, and intuitive digital workflows.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce, SAP, contracting/pricing systems, or workflow automation tools.
- Demonstrated success collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Commercial Excellence, Commercial Operations, Finance, Compliance, Order Fulfilment, and Business Units.
- Experience leading UAT cycles, scenario validations, and iterative product improvements with market users.
- Background in supporting or deploying Japan-first digital solutions that scale across multiple APAC markets.
- Familiarity with data structures, insights layers, and foundational elements required for future AI-enabled workflows.
- Strong track record of stakeholder alignment, consensus building, and cross-functional communication within Japan’s organizational context.
- Experience working within Agile product delivery environments alongside PM, UX, and engineering teams.
- Experience supporting user adoption, champion enablement, or structured change initiatives for digital platforms.
