Principal Data Scientist

Location: Barcelona Office or Remote from Spain

About the Role:

At Heetch, we are looking for a Principal Data Scientist to lead and drive data science initiatives that will shape the future of our platform. You will own the end-to-end development of impactful analysis, experimentation, machine learning models and algorithms, turning complex data into actionable insights that enhance the experience of both drivers and passengers. As a technical leader, you will set the vision for data science, mentor other data professionals, and collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, and Analysts to drive data-driven decision-making. This is a high-impact role where your work will directly influence Heetch’s strategy and growth.

What Will You Do:

- Lead data science initiatives and define best practices across the company.

- Analyse product performance to uncover growth and efficiency opportunities.

- Collaborate with product teams to deeply understand and influence roadmap priorities.

- Develop, deploy, and optimise ML models to drive product innovation.

- Architect scalable data pipelines and ensure high-quality data infrastructure.

- Design and oversee experimentation frameworks (A/B tests, causal inference, Bayesian approaches).

- Be a technical expert and mentor and guide data scientists and analysts, fostering a culture of excellence.

- Present insights to leadership and stakeholders, influencing strategic decisions.

About You:

10+ years of hands-on experience in data science, with expertise in Python, SQL, and scalable data solutions.

Proven leadership experience, driving cross-functional data science projects.

Deep understanding of statistical analysis, experimentation (A/B testing), and causal inference.

Experience with machine learning and predictive modeling in a production environment.

Strong communication skills, translating complex insights into actionable business recommendations.

Hands-on experience with data visualisation, storytelling, and dashboarding tools.

Bonus: Experience deploying ML models into production or leading a data science team.
