Position: Principal Data Scientist
Job Location: 850 Cherry Avenue, San Bruno, CA 94066
Duties: Research, experiment, and design advanced statistical models and cutting-edge machine learning/deep learning algorithms to produce total market trend forecasting and predict future Wal-Mart growth opportunities. Drive machine learning model development, maintain and continuously improve the models in production, and collaborate with engineering teams to create large scale market intelligence model solutions. Write high-efficient Python code to prototype machine learning models and implement the models in cloud services. Design testing code in Linux system to monitor the performance of machine learning models and address production issues. Build large-scale database systems that ingest, model, and analyze massive data from online and B&M channels to understand market share across hundreds of categories. Write complex SQL queries to derive market share insights from 1st and 3rd party retail data. Build automated data pipelines to process large amounts of retail data to optimize market share reporting processes. Perform prescriptive analytics on fast-moving structured and unstructured data using advanced data science to support decision-making. Build compelling data visualizations and interactive dashboards to enable mass adoption across Wal-Mart organizations. Guide junior data scientist team members on modeling process and algorithm design.
Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (any), or related field and 3 years of experience in an analytics related field; OR Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (any), or related field and 5 years of experience in an analytics related field.
Skills required: Experience building and optimizing relational databases in SQL server. Experience writing complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and load data. Experience developing predictive models using logistic regression modeling. Experience forecasting total market trends using time series model technique. Experience prototyping machine learning models using Jupyter notebook. Experience implementing and maintaining machine learning models using Python. Experience performing statistical analysis to derive insights from raw data using R. Experience writing high-efficient testing programs in Linux system. Experience versioning model, data, and programs using Git and Github. Experience designing and implementing visualization dashboards using Tableau. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
Salary Range: $196,906/year to $286,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
