Job Description:

The opportunity

Join a global, forward‑thinking team that is shaping the future of the energy landscape. Hitachi Energy’s Power Consulting team partners with utilities, ISOs, developers, and large energy users to solve complex power delivery and grid‑integration challenges. We combine deep technical expertise with practical, real‑world execution to accelerate the energy transition.

This is a unique “first on the ground” opportunity to establish our West Coast consulting presence and build trusted relationships with data center developers, hyperscalers, utilities, and key CAISO/WECC stakeholders. Designed for high autonomy, this sole‑contributor role blends business development, client engagement, and delivery support—backed by a strong national consulting organization.

As the West Coast business scales, this position could evolve into a leadership path, including the potential to build a local team or transition into a broader General Management or Business Development role.

If you thrive in dynamic environments, enjoy creating structure from ambiguity, and want to drive the energy transition in one of the most active regions in North America, this is your chance to make a meaningful impact and energize your career.

How you’ll make an impact
  • Build Hitachi Energy’s consulting presence and pipeline across the West Coast.
  • Develop trusted relationships with hyperscalers, data‑center developers, engineering partners, and utilities.
  • Lead discovery, qualification, and shaping of new consulting opportunities.
  • Translate client needs into scopes, deliverables, schedules, and commercial proposals.
  • Drive proposal development, negotiation, and value differentiation.
  • Support project execution through leadership, client engagement, and milestone involvement.
  • Identify scalable offerings, partnership models, and regional growth opportunities.
  • Represent Hitachi Energy at conferences, working groups, and industry events.
Your background
  • Proven success in consulting or advisory business development, including full capture ownership.
  • Strong familiarity with West Coast grid stakeholders, planning processes, and utility/ISO interfaces.
  • Experience supporting large‑load customers (e.g., data centers, industrials) on interconnection, power quality, resiliency, or procurement topics.
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field with power systems coursework.
  • Typically 8–12+ years in power system studies, grid integration, planning, or consulting roles.
  • Comfortable operating independently, navigating ambiguity, and balancing BD with delivery.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Experience with analysis tools (e.g., PSSE, PSLF, PSCAD, PROMOD) and programming tools such as Python.
  • West Coast–based and willing to travel up to 25%.
More about us
  • We innovate at the center of the energy transition, helping customers build a stronger, more sustainable grid.
  • We offer global career pathways, learning opportunities, and development programs to support your long-term growth.
  • You'll join a diverse, inclusive culture that values collaboration, curiosity, and impact
