We are seeking a Cloud Architect to provide technical leadership and strategic direction for the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and automated cloud infrastructure across the enterprise. This role is responsible for defining architecture standards, designing multi-cloud landing zones, and driving adoption of automation, observability, and governance frameworks. The Cloud Architect will partner with security, application, and operations teams to ensure all cloud solutions align with organizational strategy, performance, and compliance objectives. This role requires deep expertise in cloud platform architecture, a strong understanding of hybrid and multi-cloud design principles, and the ability to guide engineering teams through modernization initiatives.PositionPrincipal Cloud Architect- InfrastructureLocationUSA, Louisville, KYHow You'll Create PossibilitiesKey Responsibilities:
- Own the end-to-end cloud infrastructure architecture, including compute, networking, storage, identity, and automation frameworks.
- Define and maintain enterprise cloud architecture standards, landing zones, and blueprints to enable scalable and secure deployments.
- Architect hybrid and multi-cloud solutions that align to business continuity, cost optimization, and compliance requirements.
- Drive enterprise adoption of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), policy-as-code, and automation practices across engineering teams.
- Establish observability and telemetry standards to ensure performance, reliability, and operational visibility across platforms.
- Collaborate with Security and Compliance teams to implement controls and frameworks that meet regulatory and organizational standards.
- Evaluate and recommend cloud services, architectures, and design patterns to optimize cost, performance, and maintainability.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers in architecture best practices, governance, and automation methodologies.
- Lead major cloud transformation initiatives, ensuring architectural alignment across multiple business domains.
- Partner with product and business teams to translate strategic goals into scalable and sustainable technical designs.
- Contribute to enterprise disaster recovery, resiliency, and capacity planning strategies.
- Represent cloud architecture in architecture review boards, governance councils, and vendor evaluations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Engineering, or related field –
- or 8+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or systems architecture in lieu of a degree.
- Demonstrated proficiency with common programming and scripting languages.
- 5+ years of experience architecting large-scale AWS, GCP, or Azure environments, including design, automation, and operations.
- 7+ years of professional IT experience
- Strong expertise in multi-account cloud architecture, IAM design, and network segmentation strategies.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation and CI/CD integration for infrastructure pipelines.
- Proven experience leading design and deployment of secure and compliant cloud environments.
- Understanding of FinOps, cost governance, and performance optimization principles in multi-cloud environments.
- Demonstrated ability to develop architecture diagrams, documentation, and reference implementations for enterprise use.
- Strong communication and leadership skills to influence technical direction across cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing and implementing hybrid connectivity between on-premises and cloud environments (e.g., VPN, Direct Connect, Interconnect).
- Expertise in high-availability design, disaster recovery planning, and distributed systems architecture.
- Experience architecting platforms for AI/ML and data analytics workloads, including GPU infrastructure, data lake integration, and model deployment environments.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and serverless architectures.
- Proficiency in developing and enforcing cloud governance and security frameworks using policy-as-code and automation tooling.
- Advanced understanding of monitoring, observability, and event-driven architectures.
- AWS Professional or Specialty certification (e.g., Solutions Architect Professional, Advanced Networking, Security Specialty) or equivalent GCP/Azure certifications.
- Strong strategic thinking, able to connect long-term business goals to infrastructure roadmaps and technology outcomes.
*This role would be full-time onsite at Appliance Park in Louisville, KY. Relocation support is available.
