Principal Chemical Engineer Temporary

Job Description
BAE Systems, Inc. is looking for a highly motivated individual to lead product engineering activities in the Solvents Value Stream at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. This position would be taking a lead in a variety of solvent products through manufacturing to deliver energetic propellants to the warfighter.
The solvent product engineer will work with other scientists and engineers before, during and after manufacturing propellant processes to meet ballistic performance and customer requirements.
Interested candidates should exhibit sound judgement, initiative and self-motivation, and be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision. Solid communication, teamwork and integration skills will be required to work effectively while dealing with a variety of issues in a dynamic environment and will be key to the success of this individual.
The successful candidate will under his/her own initiative:

• Verify/refine safe, effective and efficient methods of manufacturing energetic propellants; this includes all solventless products at RFAAP
• Provide support to production, quality and program departments
• Maintain adequate records of work and present in form suitable for management and legal reporting
• Collaborate and function in multidiscipline team-based environment

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in an engineering or science related
• Ability to lead and mentor diverse teams in complex technical solutions, program execution, schedule and financial management
• Understanding of system level engineering concepts and protocols
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Strong customer focus
• Strong safety knowledge including hazard identification and knowledge of safety process
• Technical writing and presentation skills are required

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Ten years of engineering/science experience in product, design of energetics

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $105254 - $178931
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20+ hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
