Capital One is seeking a Principal Associate - Managing Editor to take our successful Auto Learning Center to the next level as we continue toward our aim of being the preeminent destination website for every stage of the automotive ownership journey.
You'll lead a team of seasoned editors and help coordinate the efforts of scores of contributors across several agencies, all in pursuit of SEO and awareness goals. You'll be responsible for ensuring content adheres to our established standards and guidelines, and for communicating qualitative issues with appropriate points of contact. Ultimately, you'll help establish Capital One's Auto Learning Center as a go-to source for everyone from enthusiasts to in-market consumers.
Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Be a leader of people first
  • Brainstorm and refine Ideas
  • Perform content KW research as-needed
  • Feature article editing
  • Liaise with our contributing agencies to ensure continuous qualitative feedback
  • Assist with strategic planning for vehicle and lifestyle content
  • Help develop a robust content calendar and drive relevant content ideas
  • Ensure continual publication of editorial content


Ideal Candidate/Additional Skills that will help you be successful:

  • A professional understanding of SEO principles
  • Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Strong project management skills, including excellent follow-up skills
  • Proven ownership mentality
  • Passionate about educational automotive content
  • Experience creating multiple content types intended for different audiences and different channels
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results in a cross-functional environment
  • Degree in journalism, communications or related field
  • Ability to cut through jargon to ensure complex automotive concepts translate to laypeople
  • Lifelong passion for automotive


Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of writing and editing as part of an editorial staff at an automotive company (such as, Edmunds, Kelly Blue Book, Hearst Auto, etc.)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or MBA
  • 5+ years of writing and editing as part of an editorial staff at an automotive company (such as, Edmunds, Kelly Blue Book, Hearst Auto, etc.)
  • 1+ years agency experience working on automotive accounts at an automotive company or automotive adjacent companies
  • 2+ years of leadership or management experience
