Staff Engineer
Location: Denver Tech Center (hybrid)
Reports to: CTO
BulkSource is digitizing the construction materials industry – a multi-billion-dollar market that’s never been properly automated. We’re a founder-led company with multiple exits building real infrastructure for how materials move across America.
We’re hiring a hands-on Software Architect to define our technical direction, design scalable systems, and ship high-impact products.
This is a technical leadership role – not people management. You’ll own architecture decisions, coordinate execution across engineers, and write production code.
The Role
You will:
- Design and evolve our multi-tenant SaaS architecture
- Make core framework, infrastructure, and data decisions
- Lead AI integration (LLMs/Claude) into core workflows
- Coordinate engineering efforts across parallel workstreams
- Write production code across Django, React, and Azure
- Establish code standards, deployment processes, and best practices
- Balance long-term architectural thinking with hands-on execution.
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of software engineering experience
- 3+ years in architectural or technical leadership roles
- Strong experience designing scalable SaaS systems
- Deep expertise in Django and multi-tenant data architecture using relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
- Strong React/TypeScript proficiency and ability to build sophisticated UIs
- Hands-on experience architecting and deploying applications on Azure
- Expert-level proficiency using AI assistants (preferably Claude) to accelerate development, debug complex issues, and explore architectural solutions.
- Ability to make sound decisions in fast-moving ambiguous environments and adapt quickly

What Success Looks Like
30 Days: Understand current architecture, identify bottlenecks, contribute production code.
60 Days: Establish engineering standards and implement meaningful architectural improvements.
90 Days: Increased velocity, improved system reliability, AI capabilities live in production.

Compensation
$175,000 – $225,000 base salary + equity and bonus eligibility.
