We’re looking for a Principal AI Engineer to redefine how mobile games are created and evolved with Generative AI. You’ll lead the prototyping and development of tools and systems that empower our artists, designers, and developers to create content, gameplay, and experiences in new and exciting ways. In this hands-on role, you’ll work closely with game, marketing, and platform teams to explore, build, and integrate AI solutions into our games. Your work will be instrumental in shaping how Rovio embraces the future of AI-driven game development.

In this hands-on role, you will collaborate closely with game, marketing, and platform teams to design and operationalise scalable AI systems that drive meaningful impact. Your work will be instrumental in shaping how Rovio embraces the future of AI-driven creativity.

You will have impact and fun by doing:

  • Leading the development and deployment of AI tools, models, and pipelines for creative workflows
  • Embedding generative AI into game production and marketing to accelerate and enhance asset creation
  • Collaborating closely with game teams to identify opportunities and deliver scalable AI solutions
  • Acting as a technical thought leader and decision-maker for AI architecture and implementation
  • Mentoring artists and team members on using AI tools and integrating them into their workflows
  • Evangelising AI internally through demos, presentations, and knowledge sharing
  • Ensuring all AI solutions meet legal, ethical, and security standards

Experience and skills we are looking for:

  • Deep expertise in generative AI, including visual and creative domains (images, videos, 2D/3D)
  • Proven experience in delivering AI/ML solutions in production, ideally within the gaming industry
  • Solid Python skills and an agile, hands-on approach to prototyping and validation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical teams
  • Experience with AI infrastructure and cloud platforms (preferably AWS)
  • Passion for games and a desire to support artists and developers through innovative AI solutions

It will be nice if you also have:

  • Familiarity with Unity or other game engines, and experience integrating AI tools into them
  • Understanding of MLOps practices and software architecture for scalable systems
  • Knowledge of free-to-play game mechanics and LiveOps environments
  • Contributions to AI communities (e.g. open-source, speaking, writing)
  • A mindset of continuous learning and curiosity to explore emerging AI technologies
