About the Role: 

Harman Automotive Design is looking for a Principal 3D Unity Experience Designer for Automotive to join an award-winning and growing design team focused on all creative efforts for the HARMAN Automotive portfolio of design driven work defining the future of mobility and transportation with a strong understanding of User Experience. 

At Harman Automotive Design, with our human focused mindset, we deliver and connect brands to customers through meaningful design. Our solutions are created with a direct focus and understanding on scalable delivery to drive business success through design. As a Principal 3D Unity Experience Designer for Automotive you will join the award-winning and growing design team and become part of our global acting family with more than 200 designers. You will gain experience in the Intelligent Cockpit business at Harman Automotive and help our product development team transition from a primarily 2D / Android HMI to a 3D, immersive, Unity-based HMI. 

What You Will Do: 

Acting as an agent of change, you will orchestrate meaningful customer experiences in Unity that showcase the best Harman Automotive in-cabin technologies, including upgradable central computing hardware, windshield projection systems, ADAS visualization, augmented reality, camera-based wellness, and Ai. 

  •   Able to lead and mentor the product development team to transition to Unity 
  •   Create and define various design ideas using Unity’s unique capabilities 
  •   Collaborate with visual designers to create 3D scenes and compositions 
  •   Define interactive features for interfaces (transitions and animations) in 2D and 3D 
  •   Work together with information architects to create overarching UX concepts 
  •   Compose real-time capable 3D scenes 
  •   Build interactive prototypes where required 
  •   Create and design presentations 
  •   Be convincing in client presentations and discussions
  •   Support and improve internal processes and workflows 
  •   Enjoy national and international travel 
  •   Actively contribute to our company culture, to mutual exchanges and inspiration 

What You Need: 

You are an experienced user experience designer with a background in automotive and mobility work. You seek to challenge yourself in a fast-paced environment and create beautiful experiences as part of a complex and engaging team of designers to produce user interfaces. 

  •   Degree in design or comparable vocational training 
  •   Extensive experience (5+ years) designing in Unity
  •   Digital native and a real “doer” who’s familiar with and helps drive the latest design trends 
  •   Analytical thinking in a broad and detailed sense 
  •   Structured way of working, even with multiple projects running in parallel 
  •   Expert in Adobe CC Suite 
  •   Experience working with one or more 3D tools, e.g. Blender, Cinema 4D and/or motion design know-how, e.g. After Effects 
  •   Knowledge of prototyping tools, usability testing and user research is a big plus 
  •   Fluent in English 
  •   Experience in the development of digital-cockpit, in-vehicle infotainment (IVI), Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), car audio, and telematics services 
  • Experience with automotive user experience development

Salary Ranges:

$ 108,750 - $ 159,500
