Job Responsibilities:
JOB DESCRIPTION: To assist the Press Operator with operation of presses utilizing stamping tools; quality inspection and packaging of parts at the press
- Assist Press Operator in operation of stamping presses
- Stack correct amount of parts in containers
- Follow all applicable work instructions: Inspection Data Sheets (IDS), tagging, labeling, etc.
- Inspection of components using fixtures, measuring devices and 100% visual inspection
- Help with machine/die changeovers and coil changes as required.
- Housekeeping, paperwork, and other activities as assigned
- 1-3 years experience required
- Manufacturing/assembly experience (metal shop) required
- Some machine shop education or prior machine operation experience
SKILLS
- Press Assistant must observe all safety regulations to insure own and others' safety
- Assistant must be able to understand verbal work instructions provided in English
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Ability to assist Operators in use of precise measuring equipment to insure dimensional conformity
- Basic math skills required
- Ability to use a calculator
- Ability to assist operator in completing Inspection Data Sheets (IDS) with math data ability to work overtime as required
- Excellent teamwork skills required
EDUCATION
- High School diploma or equivalent required
TECHNICAL EDUCATION:
- Basic math skills, SPC (Statistical Process Control) preferred but not required; training on specific machine settings, tagging, labeling, inspection, destruct, and packaging procedures specific to the assigned work cell
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Continuous standing: frequent lifting up to 40 lbs., though most parts weigh less than 20lbs. each
- Reaching to access parts in dies and presses; bending; good hand-eye coordination; occasional stooping
- 100% visual inspection of finished goods and completed components; gross and fine motor skills required
- Compliance with personal protective equipment requirements and company safety rules
EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED:
- Laser cutting fixture, Laser cutting head, Laser cell & machinery]
- Air-powered impact equipment; check-fixtures, pallet jack, hand-held assembly equipment
- Small hand tools, calculator, mop, broom, and bucket.
