Under broad supervision, responsible for handling moderate to complex billing activities, including premium invoicing, loss reimbursement billing, retrospective endorsement/rating, and cash flow reconciliation alternatives. Review and assess insurance policies and premiums, analyze customer information, detect fraud, ensure regulatory compliance, verify policy qualifications.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
  • Manages and coordinates all activities by performing moderate to complex billings and manages service delivery with excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Analyze and problem solve to effectively resolve issues of a complex nature (audits, accounting, IT issues with our vendor system).
  • Analyzes data integrity to resolve reconciliation issues.
  • Determines and initiates the most effective action plan to resolve issues and disputes to support Collections and reduce past dues.
  • Conducts program analysis and investigates financial data to comply with established procedures and policies.
  • Provides advice on billing matters to customers and consults with underwriting in the utilization of billing plans and methods.
  • Schedule onboarding interviews with the insured to obtain information regarding the insured's operations and business model.
  • Compile and analyze client's operations and accounting records for accuracy in preparation of audit, including examining and verifying classifications.
  • Conducts audits for policies to substantiate accuracy of policy classifications, exposure-based inclusions/exclusions, status of subcontractors, subcontractor cost allocations.
  • Develops proper premium basis on risks adhering to strict timeframes.
  • Recognize and communicate regular and irregular audit findings and financial conditions of an insured to the agent, branch underwriting and audit managers. Informs corporate investigations and underwriting of any questionable operations, including suspected fraud.
  • Collaborate with Audit Consultants for guidance on complex policy classifications and proper premium basis development.
  • Provides desk level training of peers.
  • Assists with creation and updates of team procedures/training documents.

Reporting Relationship
Typically Manager or above
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of departmental and P&C billing, collection, and accounting practices.
  • Knowledge of ISO, NCCI and Independent Bureaus such as the California WCIRB to determine appropriate rules.
  • Knowledge of the Workers Compensation and General Liability functions and procedures, including state and regulatory guidelines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of billing, accounting, collections and processing systems and their applications
  • Strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills necessary to manage branch assignment for onboarding and various frequency PayGo reports.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound business decisions effectively.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent work experience.
  • At least two years of experience in related Property & Casualty insurance, specifically in Billing and Collections, PayGo, or Premium Audit.
