The opportunity

We're currently looking for a PR and Product Communications Manager to join our Communications team to shape how Polestar's products, partnerships and progress are brought to life for media, stakeholders and customers. Someone with a passion for electric mobility, an interest in technology, and a desire to create the change we know is needed to champion a cleaner form of electric performance.

Reporting to the Head of PR & Communications, you'll be a key member of both the local and global communications function, as well as the wider Polestar Australia team. You'll bring a strong interest in the automotive industry, a detailed understanding of product attributes, market segments and the competitive landscape, and an active interest in electrification, decarbonisation, sustainability and the environment.

This position is based in Melbourne and requires travel for business purposes. We believe in a hybrid model when it comes to remote and onsite work, knowing that both in-person collaboration and individual time to focus are needed. What matters most is that people get the time and support to do what needs to be done - and to enjoy doing it as part of a lean, dynamic team.

The responsibilities

In this role, you'll be expected to develop and deliver product-led communications that strengthen Polestar's visibility and engage new and diverse audiences. Working as a member of the PR & Communications team, you'll be instrumental in supporting product storytelling, media engagement, launches and partnership activity.

You will be responsible for:

  • Researching and writing high-quality external communications for media, partners, stakeholders and customers, and preparing executives for interviews, speaking engagements and other external opportunities.

  • Developing product stories and overseeing content for launches and ongoing communications, including writing briefs and working with agencies, suppliers and creative partners.

  • Planning and delivering media and stakeholder activity, including new vehicle launches, partnership and ambassador collaborations, and the national media fleet strategy to support earned media coverage.

  • Developing communications plans for partnerships, events and activities, working closely with the Head of PR & Communications and cross-functional local and global teams to execute strategy

  • Support communications operations through internal updates, media monitoring, reporting, budget coordination and timely responses to media requests.

The ideal candidate

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess characteristics including tenacity, flexibility, and curiosity. The ideal candidate will have the ability to take initiative, to meet deadlines and requirements, and to know when to accelerate ideas - but also when to put things on hold if they're not feasible.

You'll be a proactive self-starter who can move comfortably between strategic thinking and hands-on delivery. You'll communicate with clarity, build trusted stakeholder relationships and stay organised when priorities shift. A positive, collaborative approach, strong attention to detail and the confidence to work across departmental boundaries will help you thrive in this fast-paced role.

In addition, you'll need the following qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree, preferably in communications, together with 6+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.

  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to translate detailed product information into clear and engaging communications.

  • A detailed understanding of the media environment and a practical, sound approach to media engagement.

  • Strong project management skills, including experience managing multiple stakeholders, consultants, suppliers, deadlines and budgets.

  • A proven ability to collaborate across functions and regions, manage competing priorities and travel for business when required.

Polestar is an international company, with various backgrounds represented. English, therefore, is the language of written and spoken communication. And though we have a global presence, we maintain the growth-mindset. Change happens often at Polestar. But so does progress. Expect an accelerating, exciting environment.

The process

If the above matches your ambitions, be sure to apply. Our selection process is ongoing, and the job advert will remain open until it’s filled.

The Polestar journey is an electric one.
