About the Department

The Data Insights Team within the Data & Analytics department is dedicated to standardizing reporting processes, establishing best practices, and contributing to the development of a Centre of Excellence that enables scalable, high-quality analytics across the organization.

About the Role

As a PowerBI Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing Power BI reports and dashboards, ensuring robust data models and seamless data integration. You will work closely with stakeholders to standardize reporting processes, establish best practices, and contribute to the development of a Centre of Excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Modelling & Integration: Design and implement scalable, efficient data models within Power BI. Define and enforce best practices for data modelling, design, and optimization. Collaborate with data engineering teams to establish a consistent and well-governed data architecture.

  • Centre of Excellence Development: Define and document best practices, governance frameworks, and standardized methodologies for Power BI development. Promote data literacy and help teams leverage Power BI effectively while maintaining data integrity and security.

  • Performance Optimization & Governance: Optimize DAX queries, data refresh schedules, and report performance. Implement data security controls, user permissions, and compliance standards in alignment with financial regulations.

  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Stay updated with Power BI developments, financial analytics trends, and emerging technologies. Identify opportunities to streamline reporting processes and improve data accessibility.

  • Dashboard & Report Development: Create user-friendly, insightful Power BI dashboards that support business decision-making. Ensure reports follow best practices in data visualization and performance optimization.

  • Collaboration & Engagement: Engage with team and business stakeholders to support best practice development and usage. Apply critical thinking to evaluate dashboard development requirements and ensure outcomes meet business needs.

About the Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Proven experience as a PowerBI Developer, preferably in financial services, banking, or a related industry.

  • Expertise in data modelling and integration, with a deep understanding of star schema, data transformations, and Power Query.

  • Strong proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, report/dashboard design, and performance optimization.

  • Knowledge of BI governance, data security, and compliance.

  • Familiarity with SQL, Python, or R.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

  • Experience in establishing or contributing to a Centre of Excellence is desirable.

  • Microsoft Power BI certification is desirable but not required.
