Job DescriptionThe Power Pricing Expert defines, implements and governs commercially attractive, risk-controlled power pricing for the Spanish market, ensuring pricing calculations are correct across all commodities offered. The role connects wholesale-market mechanics with customer product design, margin protection, invoicing accuracy and digital retail execution, combining market and competitor analytics, quantitative pricing, portfolio management and operational understanding of balancing and ancillary-service costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and govern power pricing methodologies for the Spanish retail market - fixed, indexed, dynamic, time-of-use and optionality-based structures - ensuring pricing calculations are correct for all commodities offered (power primary; gas where relevant).
- Price products and commercial options by converting wholesale curves, shape and balancing costs, ancillary-service exposure, forecast uncertainty and margin targets into practical tariffs; build and maintain pricing models, risk premia, scenarios and back-tests to support launches and repricing.
- Manage the portfolio across its lifecycle - demand forecasting, hedging input, open-position monitoring, margin / P&L attribution - and run periodic reviews to identify growth, profitability and rationalisation opportunities.
- Assess balancing and imbalance exposure and intraday re-forecasting needs to reduce avoidable deviation costs.
- Coordinate with the trading desk and portfolio management on quotations, fixings and purchases so they are executed error-free and protect or increase final margins.
- Ensure end-to-end pricing accuracy for invoicing - correct customer information, pricing components and prices-to-invoice - working across Sales, Finance, Back office and internal databases.
- Analyse market trends, competitor pricing and profitability, and monitor OMIE / intraday dynamics, REE / ESIOS data, balancing, ancillary services and regulation; translate intelligence into pricing recommendations and governance materials.
- Work with data and technology teams to enhance pricing tools / systems, automate workflows and industrialise pricing logic into dashboards; define pricing controls, documentation and post-launch monitoring, and report on margins, accuracy and P&L.
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Finance
- 3-5 years of experience in power pricing, energy trading, portfolio management, market risk, structuring or quantitative energy analytics gained on the Spanish/ Iberian power retail market
- Proven ability to price fixed, indexed, dynamic and time-of-use retail products, plus risk premia and margin build-up
- Advanced Excel and quantitative modelling; ability to build and document pricing models and back-test
- Awareness of pricing governance, model documentation, risk limits and regulatory / compliance requirements
- Fluent Spanish and good communication skills in English
