What is the position? 
Cognosante are seeking an experienced Power BI Data Integration Specialist to join our team and lead the integration of Power BI with our enterprise data architecture, leveraging real-time data streams such as Kafka. This role is critical to enhancing our data-driven decision-making capabilities by transforming complex data from various sources into meaningful, interactive visualizations. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Power BI, a strong understanding of real-time data processing, and the ability to manage cross-functional stakeholder requirements.
 
What will I get to do?

Design and Develop Power BI Solutions: Build dynamic and interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations for various business functions.

• Integrate with Real-Time Data Pipelines: Implement real-time Change Data Capture (CDC) and Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) patterns using Kafka or similar data pipelines.

• Data Modeling & Transformation: Create optimized data models and DAX formulas to support high-performance reporting.

• Data Integration: Connect Power BI to multiple data sources, such as SQL databases, Kafka, REST APIs and AWS Cloud integrations and more.

• Advanced Query Development: Utilize Power Query/M, DAX, and SQL for complex data transformations and advanced calculations.

• Deployment and Administration: Manage Power BI service deployments, establish security best practices, and optimize user permissions.

• Collaboration: Work closely with data engineers, software architects, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on data requirements and project goals.

• Performance Tuning: Conduct performance analysis and optimization of data models, reports, and dashboards.

• Documentation: Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including architectural diagrams, data flow diagrams, and report specifications.

Ability to create custom visuals using R programming language withing a PowerBI reporting environment

Knowledge and experience of working within PowerBI workspaces, to include dataset creations, publishing of reports and end user access.

• Support & Training: Provide ongoing support to users, deliver training sessions, and implement enhancements based on feedback.

• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve data-related issues to ensure data integrity, modeling integrity, and accuracy in reporting.

• Service Deployments: Participate in the deployment of services and applications in applicable environments to support data analytics and reporting requirements.


 
What qualifications do I need? 

• 5+ years of experience in designing and developing Power BI reports and dashboards.

• Proven experience in real-time data integration using RedHat Kafka, Apache Camel, or similar technologies.

• Advanced proficiency with DAX, Power Query (M), and SQL.

• Knowledge of data modeling concepts, schema design, and ETL processes.

• Familiarity with data streaming technologies such as AWS, RedHat Kafka, Apache Camel or Apache Pulsar.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills. You are comfortable interacting with customers and have the ability to communicate effectively.

 • Must be able to achieve a moderate (Tier 2) VA position of trust

  • Experience working in Agile or SAFe methodologies.
  • Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or Power BI Certification.
  • Familiarity with DevOps for Power BI (CI/CD pipelines) is a plus.
  • Prior experience working with large-scale supply chain or master data management (MDM) systems.
  • Experience working in regulated environments (FedRAMP/FISMA, HIPAA, PCI, ITAR, etc).

Compensation

$96,760.98 - $154,817.56

The pay range for this job is determined by various factors, including but not necessarily limited to location, responsibilities of the job, and alignment with market data. When determining a salary for this role, the following factors may be taken into consideration - contract-specific affordability, education, knowledge, skills, competencies and experience. The estimate displayed represents the salary range for this position and is just one component of Cognosante’s total compensation package for employees. It is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, nor a promise of any specific pay for any specific employee.
