This editor will play an essential part in pursuing our mission of providing the world’s most authoritative coverage of climate and the environment.

This editor should be prepared to oversee ambitious enterprise and accountability reporting in the U.S. and abroad while also running coverage of significant news developments. Responsibilities:

  • Identify high-impact targets that will be of wide interest to the public.

  • Excel at leading long-term enterprise and ideas-driven stories.

  • Craft stories that are innovative and immersive, employing visual storytelling as well as powerful writing and data visualization.

  • Collaborate deeply with colleagues in the Climate & Environment Department and across the newsroom to produce stories that are as compelling as possible.

  • Uphold The Post’s commitment to fair and rigorous reporting at every stage of the process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A track record of producing top-tier journalism.

  • Strong line-editing skills.

  • A high metabolism and eagerness to pursue news.

  • Familiarity with national and international climate and environmental policy.

This position is based in our Washington, D.C., newsroom.

Interested applicants should upload a résumé, a cover letter and three clips (as PDFs) to our jobs portal. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled, but those received by Sept. 20 will be prioritized. The cover letter should be addressed to Managing Editor Scott Vance, Climate and Environment Editor Zachary Goldfarb and Deputy Climate and Environment Editor Juliet Eilperin.
