Postgres Database Administrator

As a PostgreSQL Database Administrator at OneMagnify, you will play a critical role in managing and maintaining our PostgreSQL database environments to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security. Working closely with software engineers and data teams, you will contribute to database administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting efforts. • Requirements: 

  Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 

  Technical Proficiency: 

  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL database administration. 

  • Familiarity with SQL query optimization and database performance tuning. 

  • Basic understanding of database backup and recovery methods. 

  • Experience with monitoring tools for databases and system health 

  Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills. 

  Bonus Qualifications: 

  • Exposure to database security best practices and compliance standards. 

  • Familiarity with cloud-based database environments (e.g., AWS RDS for PostgreSQL, Google Cloud SQL). 

  • Understanding of scripting languages for automation (e.g., Python, Bash). 

   

   

  Responsibilities: 

  • Administer and maintain PostgreSQL databases, ensuring high availability and performance. 

  • Monitor database health and proactively address issues related to performance, storage, and capacity planning. 

  • Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of database backup and recovery solutions. 

  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize SQL queries and database structures. 

  • Perform database migrations, upgrades, and patching as needed. 

  • Support data security and compliance by implementing appropriate controls and monitoring. 

  • Document database configurations, procedures, and best practices. 

  • Troubleshoot database-related issues and work closely with team members to resolve them efficiently. 

  • Stay updated on emerging PostgreSQL features and recommend their applicability.
