The Postdoctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Postdoctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

• Knowledge of fundamental principles of molecular and cellular biology, cancer biology, hematopoiesis, genetics, immunology, and/or related life sciences.
• Skill in designing, conducting, and interpreting rigorous laboratory experiments using molecular, cellular, biochemical, genetic, and/or genomic approaches.
• Ability to develop and test scientific hypotheses, critically evaluate experimental results, troubleshoot complex problems, and formulate appropriate follow-up studies.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound scientific judgment, and effectively manage research activities while maintaining accurate and reproducible experimental records.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work effectively in an intellectually engaged research environment, including presenting scientific findings and contributing to manuscripts and other scientific communications.

Department Specific Functions

The Taylor laboratory is seeking a self-motivated, independent postdoctoral researcher to investigate the molecular mechanisms that drive hematologic malignancies and to develop strategies to overcome therapeutic resistance. The Taylor laboratory uses a multidisciplinary approach that integrates molecular biology, cancer biology, genetics, genomics, pharmacology, and in vivo models to understand mechanisms of leukemia and myeloid neoplasms and translate these discoveries into new therapeutic approaches.

The postdoctoral researcher will be expected to develop and execute rigorous experimental studies, analyze and interpret results, troubleshoot technical challenges, and contribute to the development of new research directions. Research may involve molecular and cellular biology, CRISPR-based genetic screening and gene editing, functional genomics, single-cell technologies, drug sensitivity and resistance studies, primary patient samples, and mouse models of leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes. The researcher will have opportunities to work across complementary experimental systems and to develop expertise in technologies that advance the laboratory's translational research program.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in basic or translational life sciences and a demonstrated interest in cancer research. Experience in hematopoiesis, leukemia biology, molecular biology, genetics, genomics, pharmacology, immunology, or related fields is desirable. Specific experience with CRISPR gene editing, functional genetic screens, single-cell technologies, primary hematologic malignancy samples, mouse models, drug screening, or mechanisms of therapeutic resistance will be considered advantageous, but candidates with strong research training in other relevant areas of life science are encouraged to apply.
