The Role
Geode Capital Management, LLC (“GCM”) is a global institutional asset manager providing core beta exposures across a range of equity and niche asset classes, including commodities and options, for registered funds, commingled pools and separately managed accounts.
Geode’s equity index team manages over $1.5 trillion of global equity assets benchmarked to US, developed markets, emerging markets and thematic indices. The vehicles managed include ETFs, separately managed accounts, CITs and sub-advised mutual funds for both domestic and international investors. The Portfolio Manager will become an integral member of a team responsible for managing passive strategies.
This role is based out of our office in Boston, Massachusetts and is required to follow the firm’s current hybrid work schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in-office, with the option to work Monday and Friday remote from home.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all portfolios are managed within their investment objectives
- Utilize proprietary portfolio management tools to analyze and interpret risk metrics and devise efficient implementation strategies for cash flow activity, scheduled index rebalances and corporate action events to best match the benchmark and keep portfolios in line with performance expectations
- Collaborate with Portfolio Management/Trading/Operations/Compliance to ensure successful execution of trades
- Coordinate with team around events such as voluntary and mandatory corporate actions
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements that streamline the portfolio management workflow
- Be accountable for fund performance and understand the drivers of performance attribution
- Assist in client reporting and other ad-hoc analysis
Skills You Bring:
- 5+ years of experience in a similar position and an in-depth knowledge of the index portfolio management and cash flow processes
- BA Degree (Masters preferred) in Finance or Business or Related Field
- CFA or progress towards completion of CFA preferred
- Equity portfolio construction expertise is required
- Familiarity with index methodologies used by global index providers
- Tax sensitive and tax managed portfolio experience a plus
- Strong understanding of domestic and international equity markets along with various instruments including ETFs, futures and currencies
- Technology driven individual with experience using proprietary and/or vendor systems for portfolio and risk management, optimizations, and trade order management
- Familiarity with using: Bloomberg, Charles River Development (CRD), Axioma, SCD (SimCorp Dimension)
- SQL programming skills is a plus
- A self-motivated team player capable of working well with colleagues across the business to drive projects or tasks through to completion
- Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize work under pressure
- Enjoys working in a collegial environment and thrives in a dynamic and growing organization
