Tangram Flex is seeking a Portfolio Manager [PfM] with a minimum of 8 years of experience in program leadership and/or technical oversight of defense projects to lead a key portfolio of programs supporting the air armaments community in adopting Modular Open Systems Approach [MOSA], software verification, and platform interoperability our DoW customers. This position is located in Dayton, Ohio, or Ft Walton Beach, Florida.

This professional serves as a bridge between customer needs and technical delivery. The PfM will shape mission relevant solutions, support capture and growth activities, and translate requirements into executable program deliverables across five or more  programs, focused on MOSA adoption support, modular software verification & test support, and system & platform interoperability for  US DoW Customers. 

The PfM will work closely with customers, the growth team, and engineering to identify and mature opportunities, define value propositions, prioritize investments across programs, and ensure solutions are scalable and relevant across the portfolio. By balancing customer mission, pipeline growth, and portfolio health, this role drives sustainable business outcomes while ensuring program performance consistency, risk management, and return on investment across multiple initiatives.

This position requires close collaboration with government customers, primes, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to balance strategy, growth, and execution objectives. This role requires a strong background in systems integration, software engineering concepts, and digital engineering practices to effectively guide cross-functional teams in the delivery of complex technical solutions. PfM’s maintain a focus on, and ensure: 

  • Establishing, building, and deepening relationships with Portfolio customers to ensure performance is customer-focused
  • Measurable growth of Portfolio through securing follow on work. 
  • Successful execution of the Portfolio’s Programs based on contractual commitments (technical delivery on schedule, on budget); 
  • Regular communication of Portfolio Performance to Tangram leadership (and other stakeholders, as needed). 
  • Tight collaboration with the Portfolio Tech Lead.

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE/

Required Skills:

  • Current/or recent U.S. Government Security Clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree within any of these disciplines, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or Operations Management; or equivalent successful experience in a similar industry role.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience managing, supporting, or leading technical programs in a Federal Government environment, ideally involving the development and integration of new mission systems.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering concepts, specifically DoW software and systems engineering environments including the design of adaptable and affordable systems, testing, and systems integration.
  • Demonstrated experience growing the scope and or value of programs or portfolios organically within the DoW market.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and communicate effectively, with demonstrated ability to lead and/or support teams to success.
  • Understanding of Government and Industry program/project management tasks and execution methods and Federal acquisition processes, contracting mechanisms, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent time and resource management skills combined with the ability to manage multiple complex, multidisciplinary tasks and projects.
  • Proficient with MS Office and Google Suite products.
  • Demonstrated competency in written and oral communication.
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time.

Desired Skills:

  • Current active U.S. Government Security Clearance
  • Prior experience supporting the air armaments community in adopting Modular Open Systems Approach [MOSA] within DoW
  • Prior experience supporting software verification, and platform interoperability within DoW

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to travel by air, car, or other transportation methods
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer (up to 8 hours/day)
  • Ability to lift and carry lightweight items (e.g., laptops, demo equipment, marketing materials) up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, using a mouse, writing, and handling equipment.
  • Visual acuity to read detailed technical documents, view computer screens, and operate software systems
  • Auditory ability to participate in meetings, customer demos, and conference calls, including in potentially noisy environments (e.g., trade shows or military facilities)
  • Mobility to move between office spaces, customer sites, conference venues, and manufacturing or lab environments
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying work environments (e.g., corporate offices, government buildings, industrial or lab spaces)
