Role Overview
The Portfolio Leader – Large Deals (BFSI) is a senior leadership role responsible for owning and governing a strategic portfolio of large, multi‑year BFSI engagements. The role ensures end‑to‑end accountability across deal shaping, transition, delivery excellence, financial performance, risk management, and client relationship management.
The incumbent will act as the single point of leadership for assigned large accounts or portfolios, partnering closely with Sales, Delivery, Solutioning, Finance, HR, and Technology leaders to drive profitable growth, operational excellence, and long‑term client value.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio & Account Leadership
- Own end‑to‑end P&L responsibility for a portfolio of large BFSI deals (Banks, Financial Services, Insurance).
- Provide strategic leadership across multiple programs, contracts, and delivery units within the portfolio.
- Drive portfolio growth through account mining, cross‑sell, up‑sell, and renewals.
Large Deal Governance & Execution
- Lead large deal pursuits in collaboration with Sales and Solutioning teams, including commercials, risk assessment, and operating model finalization.
- Own deal transition governance, ensuring smooth ramp‑up, SLA adherence, and stakeholder alignment.
- Establish and run robust governance structures (SteerCos, QBRs, MBRs) with clients and internal leadership.
Client Relationship Management
- Act as Executive Sponsor for key BFSI clients and build long‑standing C‑level relationships.
- Ensure high client satisfaction, proactive issue management, and timely escalation resolution.
- Represent the organization as a trusted transformation and delivery partner.
Financial & Commercial Management
- Drive revenue growth, margin improvement, cost optimization, and forecasting accuracy.
- Ensure strong financial controls, billing governance, contract compliance, and audit readiness.
- Monitor deal economics, risks, and dependencies throughout the contract lifecycle.
Delivery Excellence & Risk Management
- Ensure consistent delivery performance across programs against SLAs, KPIs, and contractual commitments.
- Proactively identify delivery, operational, and compliance risks; implement mitigation plans.
- Champion quality, security, regulatory compliance, and process maturity relevant to BFSI clients.
People & Leadership
- Lead and mentor Delivery Leaders, Program Managers, and PMO teams across the portfolio.
- Drive talent strategy including succession planning, leadership development, and retention.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Competencies
Domain & Industry Expertise
- Deep understanding of BFSI domain (Banking, Insurance, Capital Markets, or Payments).
- Strong knowledge of BFSI regulatory, compliance, and risk landscapes.
Leadership & Deal Experience
- Proven experience in managing large transformation deals (USD 20M+ / multi‑year contracts).
- Strong background in portfolio management, large account governance, and client escalations.
Commercial & Financial Acumen
- Strong P&L ownership experience with sharp commercial and financial decision‑making skills.
- Experience working with contracts, SOWs, SLAs, and pricing models.
Stakeholder Management
- Ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders across Sales, Delivery, Finance, HR, and Technology.
- Executive‑level communication and presentation skills.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology / Management.
- MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification preferred.
