WHAT YOU'LL DO

SIXGEN is looking for a Portfolio Director to lead a portfolio of Federal Civilian programs that support critical government missions. This person will be responsible for the overall success of the portfolio, ensuring programs are delivered effectively, customers are well supported, teams have what they need to succeed, and the business continues to grow.

You'll lead a team of Program Managers who oversee day-to-day contract execution while serving as the primary executive point of contact for government customers and internal leadership. Success in this role means balancing customer satisfaction, operational excellence, financial performance, and team development while helping position SIXGEN for long-term growth.

We're looking for a strategic leader who enjoys building strong customer relationships, developing high-performing teams, solving complex challenges, and driving results in a fast-moving federal contracting environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leading a Portfolio of Mission Critical Programs. You'll provide leadership and direction across a portfolio of Federal Civilian contracts, ensuring programs are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You'll guide Program Managers, help remove obstacles, manage risks, and ensure teams have the support they need to succeed.

Build Strong Customer Relationships. You'll serve as a trusted partner to government customers, including Contracting Officers, CORs, and senior agency leaders. You'll lead senior level discussions, address challenges when they arise, and work closely with customers to understand their priorities and deliver exceptional service.

Own Portfolio Performance. You'll be accountable for the overall health of the portfolio, including revenue, profitability, staffing, forecasting, customer satisfaction, and delivery performance. You'll work closely with finance, recruiting, contracts, and technical teams to ensure programs remain successful and positioned for growth.

Develop Leaders and Teams. A key part of this role is helping others succeed. You'll mentor Program Managers, support talent development, strengthen leadership capabilities across the organization, and help foster a collaborative, mission-focused culture.

Support Growth and Strategic Expansion. You'll play an active role in growing the business by helping shape recompetes, capture strategies, proposals, and account expansion opportunities. By combining strong customer relationships with operational insight, you'll help identify new opportunities and position SIXGEN for continued success.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Information Technology, Public Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 12+ years of experience leading programs, portfolios, or delivery organizations supporting U.S. federal government customers.
  • 5+ years of experience managing leaders, Program Managers, or large delivery teams in a federal contracting environment.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, multi-program portfolios while driving operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and business performance.
  • Experience owning portfolio financial performance, including revenue, profitability, forecasting, staffing strategy, and resource planning.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to build trusted relationships and effectively engage senior government and industry stakeholders.
  • Deep knowledge of federal contracting, including FAR-based contracts, IDIQ/task order vehicles, subcontractor management, and program governance.
  • Experience supporting business growth through capture activities, proposal development, recompetes, and strategic account expansion.
  • Demonstrated success leading geographically distributed teams in fast-paced, mission-driven environments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance strategic priorities and day-to-day execution.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
