The Role

Senior Software Engineering Consultant

Location: This is a Sydney hybrid-based role with a blend of working from home & working on-site with clients.

About DiUS

DiUS is an Australian-owned technology services company with an excellent reputation as a trusted consulting partner. We’re a go-to company for helping organisations of all sizes improve their delivery practices, tackle hard engineering problems, modernise legacy applications, and design, build and deliver a new product to market.

We have a powerful ability to figure out the best path forward for each of our clients by drawing upon our broad range of deep and specialist capabilities: software engineering, experience design, data and analytics, machine learning and the internet of things. We look ahead to identify trends in technology, practices and approaches that will have an outsized impact on how technology products are built and delivered.

This makes us a great place for those who love tech, are inspired by learning, and who thrive through constant variety. A place where you’ll be surrounded by growth and opportunity. A place where you’ll have fun and be celebrated. A place where you’ll become the best version of yourself: a DiUS Navigator. We truly value our people and nurture an inclusive environment which has seen us close the gender pay gap, and be recognised as #7 best workplace on the Best Workplaces – Technology list for 2024 by Great Places to Work Australia.

About the role

We are looking for full stack / polyglot software engineers who have ideally worked in consulting environments or worked across projects, and gained experience in understanding requirements, problem discovery, contributing to solutions and outcomes, actively participating in agile practices, talking with stakeholders, and involved in delivering brilliant outcomes for our clients.

As a DiUS Senior Software Consultant, you will have the opportunity to make a difference and make an impact across multiple products and clients. We work on problems our clients aren’t able to solve themselves: anything from playing and experimenting with innovative tech to helping a client transform legacy systems.

This is a role for the natural navigator, the problem solver, the constantly curious and the lifelong learner. You'll be a key contributor working with a DiUS team to partner with our team clients and help them build bespoke products and solutions, getting the most of their technology landscape, and leaving them in a better place. While this role is very much about systems and coding, it's also about developing the skills to ask the right questions, having good practices, developing relationships and collaborating on the bigger picture. You’ll also represent the DiUS brand internally and externally, positioning DiUS teammates as experts to the client.

About you

  • Previous experience in consulting / professional services, or across projects - and able to quickly adapt to different stakeholder needs and paces
  • Excellent presentation & communication skills
  • Full-stack software engineer with experience in various tech languages such as: Typescript/JavaScript, Node, C#, .net, Kotlin, Python, React, Angular, Vue
  • Commercial experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure and/or GCP
  • Solid level of proficiency in modern architecture practices
  • Good understanding of Agile, understanding its purpose, value and common practices
  • Demonstrates autonomy and proficiency in code practices such as TDD and CI/CD
  • Able to efficiently self manage and coordinate / prioritise tasks and workload
  • Curious with a growth mindset, always seeking to learn and experiment in the latest tech trends
  • Passionate about  spreading change through thought leadership, mentoring, meetups, writing blogs or staying active on GitHub.

Our Promise

At our core, we are driven by our values—Always be Growing, Move Humanity Forward, Seek Greatness for The Client, and Be About the Band. They reflect our passion, purpose, and beliefs.

Your experience with DiUS is one of our most important People priorities, and we understand this will look and feel very different for each person. Our navigators can expect:

  • A DiUS contribution towards the tools of your choice, supporting you in doing your best work
  • An ongoing monthly WFH allowance
  • An organisation that genuinely cares about you and your wellbeing, supported by a network of peers and team leads as well as additional leave options and EAP services
  • Coaching and leadership to enable your growth, whether that be skill uplift, career progression, explore your passion, step into thought leadership or master your craft
  • As your growth is in your hands, we offer you access to online learning pathways as well as professional development days to invest in the capabilities that are meaningful to you
  • A workplace that values flexibility and champions hybrid working. As a consulting business, we are committed to our clients needs and strike the balance between sensible choices and business outcomes

What We Do

It’s our ability to help clients navigate the new that continues to set us apart. We specialise in using emerging technology to solve difficult problems, get new ideas to market or disrupt traditional business models.

We leverage the cloud so we can focus on improving how our clients interact with their customers. We’re leaders in digital, data and devices with specialist expertise in discovery and design. Sometimes we work under the hood, connecting multiple systems to create a single customer view. Other times we make a more visible impact by building new products or enabling new ways for our clients to interact with their customers.

We’re focused on building the right thing. To define and design a solution that will be embraced by consumers, we leverage product thinking to balance customer experience and technology. Starting small, we get new ideas to market quickly and if we find something that isn’t providing value, we change, tune or remove it.
