The role
As a PLC Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, programming, and validating PLC software for industrial automation systems. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary engineering team to design reliable and efficient control solutions that support innovative energy applications.
This role offers a strong combination of hands-on engineering, R&D involvement, and collaboration within a highly technical environment.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and program PLC software for industrial automation systems
- Test and validate PLC software to ensure reliability and performance
- Create and maintain technical documentation
- Collaborate with colleagues on code reviews and improvements
- Design, adapt, and optimize PLC applications using engineering principles
- Participate in R&D activities, prototyping, and technical reporting
- Integrate reliability analysis into software design and testing
- Work with internal tools for drawings and document control
What we’re looking for
- Ideally muiltiple years experience with PLC software for industrial automation systems
- A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic and evolving technical environment
- Basic experience with industrial software development, HW/SW interfacing, testing, and debugging
- Knowledge of IEC 61131-3 PLC programming languages or willingness to learn
- Strong communication skills in English
- A collaborative mindset and proactive attitude
- Passion for software development and practical engineering solutions
Nice to have
- Experience with mechatronics (software control of mechanical systems)
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (ModBUS, CANbus, ProfiBUS, OPC UA)
- Experience with PLC environments such as CodeSys, PLCnext, or Siemens S7 (±2 years is a plus)
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
- Knowledge of version control systems (Git, SVN, Mercurial)
- Basic programming skills in Python or shell scripting
