The Akamai Network Operations Command Center (NOCC) is responsible to monitor, manage and maintain the Akamai's Platform. NOCC is staffed 24X7 by expert Platform Operations engineers, based out of the global command centers. The Command centers are in - Bangalore, Cambridge, Krakow.

This is an opportunity to work in a large scale, global network operations department.
As a Platform Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Monitoring, managing, and maintaining infrastructure with 3,50,000+ Linux servers, 14500+ Layer 3 and 22,000+ Layer 2 devices.
- Responding to hardware/software/network/OS related alerts, in a timely fashion as per pre-defined SLAs.
- Troubleshooting network connectivity issues with various global ISPs, to address issues related to packet loss/filtering, network latency, and routing issues.
- Analyzing network traffic patterns and performance metrics to detect anomalies in the network.
- Identifying and resolving problems related to switches, examples (but not limited to) switch upgrades, STP issues, VLAN configuration, faulty network interfaces
- Troubleshooting various router problems, such as faulty ports, misconfigurations, Handling BGP peering issues and Routing policy changes.
- Troubleshooting network issues in akamai fabric clusters and backbone network.
- Ensuring round-the-clock operations, this permanent night shift role requires full on-site presence with no work-from-home option.
Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
- 6+ Months of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent
- Gain experience in networking within a NOC or similar setting and hold a globally recognized credential like CCNA or JNCIA.
- Have experience with Routers/Switches - Cisco, Juniper
- Have excellent analytical, problem-solving & communication skills.
- Have technical analysis and troubleshooting skills
