Role Overview
The Business Applications Team supports the Wealth Management business and its subsidiaries by delivering and managing technology solutions that enable business growth, operational efficiency and innovation.
Reporting to the Head of Business Applications, this newly created Platform Lead Data & AI role will be instrumental in shaping, developing and operating the Swiss data platform based on Microsoft Fabric, while driving the adoption of AI capabilities across the organisation.
Working closely with business and technology stakeholders, the role is responsible for ensuring that data, integration and AI capabilities support business objectives while maintaining high standards of governance, quality and reliability. The successful candidate will lead a cross-functional team and drive the continuous evolution of the platform to meet current and future business needs.
The position is based in Zurich and may require occasional travel to other locations.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the strategic vision for data, API & AI products within Wealth Management Switzerland, aligning with group and business goals and ensuring maximum value creation from solutions. Collaborate with stakeholders to secure buy-in and sponsorship for data initiatives.
- Leading the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise data platforms, integration services, API management capabilities, and AI infrastructure.
- Work closely with established group teams to adopt and enforce approved data governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies. Oversee data quality, privacy, and lifecycle management within Wealth Management UK.
- Oversee the end-to-end development of data & AI solutions, from requirement scoping to deployment.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging feedback loops and performance metrics to enhance solution operations, data product quality, and AI product performance.
- Performance & Monitoring:
- Ensure adequate monitoring for each solution is in place, and that the necessary processes and procedures are in place to respond to alerts and incidents.
- Ensure that environments are sized correctly, and end user solutions perform within accepted parameters.
- Vendor Management:
- Ensure any third-party vendors are managed closely and deliver on their contractual obligations.
- Apply updates and patches as necessary.
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing Data, API and AI Platform team, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Working closely with the Group Data Platform and AI teams to ensure that standards are met and that we operate in conjunction with other federated teams across wealth and asset management.
- Ensure that the change portfolio for the Data Platform and AI initiatives is communicated to the necessary stakeholders.
Qualifications
- University degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business Information Systems or a related field.
Experience, Skills and Competencies Required
- Proven experience leading Data & AI platforms, with expertise across data engineering, data governance and AI-enabled business solutions.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and modern data and AI technologies. Experience with Azure and Avaloq ecosystems (e.g. Microsoft Fabric, MAPI, Copilot Studio, Avaloq CAPI) is advantageous.
- Experience enabling data-driven decision-making through data integration, migration, analytics and AI initiatives.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and successfully collaborate with business and technology stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with the ability to translate complex or ambiguous requirements into practical solutions.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage audiences at all organisational levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; German is an advantage.
- Results-oriented, proactive and adaptable, with a pragmatic approach and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and technically complex environment.
- Commercial awareness, strategic thinking and a passion for leveraging technology as a business differentiator.
- Strong team orientation, emotional intelligence and cultural awareness within an international environment.
- Experience in Private Banking or Wealth Management is desirable.
