Platform engineerPurpose of the role
Pico is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join the Platform Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have experience in browser and back-end development. With familiarity with JavaScript, Python, Golang and bash development skills. The successful candidate will be able to investigate complex engineering problems and build automated solutions to resolve them. The candidate will be willing to learn and keep up to date with new technologies.
Responsibilities and duties (include but not limited to)
- Develop browser applications using AWS APIs.
- Communicate with developers and provide them with tools and tested workflows which minimise risks.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for both serverless and non-serverless deployments.
- Design and implement creative solutions to operations problems, incidents, or outages such that these problems remain fixed and, as a result, operational toil is materially reduced.
- Ensure scalability, availability, reliability, and security is delivered to all internal and client-serving systems.
Education, skills, and background (nice to have)
- SAML, Oauth
- AWS IAM, S3, Lambda
- Parquet, Sqlite, Wireshark
- Development experience (JavaScript, Python, Golang, Bash)
- Git fundamentals
- Linux (Redhat), rpm, systemd
- Bachelor’s degree or better in Computer Science or related discipline is preferred
Working Arrangements
This is a Hybrid position with weekly time in the office with the flexibility of working from home. Though travel may be required from time to time, it is not expected to be regular or frequent. The Platform Engineer role may occasionally require weekend or shift work, however this will only occur in exceptional circumstances.
