Purpose and Scope:
As a Platform Engineer of a team of individuals in a specific area of digital expertise, you will be a crucial player in driving our digital initiatives forward in our agile organization. Our agile operating model consists of two components – Digital Capability and Digital Execution. Digital Execution is about aligning multiple missions around business goals and facilitating collaboration on a larger scale. Digital Capability, on the other hand, focuses on the growth and development of individuals within a specific expertise area. This dual structure enables us to scale agile practices efficiently while maintaining a focus on both product development and individual skill enhancement.
An Enterprise Business Platforms Engineer focuses on the development, deployment, and integration of software platforms that support our business processes and operations. This role involves a blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and a deep understanding of the specific platforms. SAP BTP Solution Architect designs, governs, and enables enterprise-grade solutions on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). This role leads integration architecture, cloud-native application design, platform administration, and data architecture, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, compliant, and aligned with SAP and enterprise standards
The architect partners with application teams, security, infrastructure, and SAP to deliver future-ready BTP solutions. You will be at the forefront of implementing innovative solutions and will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies in your field.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Design end-to-end solution architectures on SAP BTP aligned with enterprise standards
Lead integration architecture using SAP Integration Suite (Cloud Integration, API Management, event-driven patterns) - Define and govern API standards, integration patterns, error handling, and monitoring
- Design and review cloud-native applications using SAP Cloud Application Programming Model (CAPM)
- Establish extension strategies for SAP systems using side-by-side and clean-core principles
- Define data and analytics architecture leveraging SAP Business Data Cloud and related services
- Own BTP platform administration including subaccounts, entitlements, quotas, and service lifecycle Define security and access models (SSO, role collections, trust configuration, certificates)
- Partner with SAP and partners for architecture validation and best-practice alignment
- Provide architecture oversight during build, testing, cutover, and production operations
- Establish operational standards, runbooks, monitoring, and cost-optimization practices
- Mentor teams and promote reusable architecture patterns and assets
- System Integration: Ensure seamless integration between different business platforms and systems
- Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Regularly monitor the performance of business platforms, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to improve efficiency and user experience.
- Actively participate in and contribute to various initiatives, applying your specialized skills to achieve the objectives and expected Value. Contribute to the ongoing realization of Value from these enterprise platforms through continuous integration and deployment
- Quality Assurance: Ensure the highest quality and consistency in the work delivered.
- Problem-Solving: Employ analytical and problem-solving skills to overcome project challenges and deliver effective solutions.
- Enable business process automation using SAP Build Process Automation (Workflows and RPA bots)
- Design and implement integrations between SAP and external/non-SAP systems using
- SAP Integration Suite (CPI), PI/PO, APIs, and web services.
- Design solutions following SAP best practices, clean core concepts, and modern ABAP programming paradigms ( CDS views, RAP , CAPm).
- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to SAP applications and integrations.
- Support system upgrades, patching, migrations, and system performance optimization.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
- 8+ years overall IT experience with 5+ years in SAP architecture or engineering roles
- 3+ years hands-on experience with SAP BTP
- Strong experience with SAP Integration Suite (CPI, API Management)
- Hands-on or architecture-level experience with SAP CAPM (Node.js and/or Java)
- Experience with SAP Business Data Cloud / SAP data & analytics services
- Solid understanding of BTP administration, security, and operations
- Experience integrating SAP S/4HANA, ECC, and SAP SaaS solutions
- Strong communication and architecture governance skills
- Bachelor's degree or master's in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or STEM degree.
- Hands-on or architectural experience with SAP Build Process Automation (Workflows and RPA)
- Strong knowledge of SAP integration technologies (SAP Integration Suite/BTP, CPI, PI/PO, IDocs, RFC, Web Services, APIs, CAPm).
- Experience with Web technologies (XML, XSLT, REST, HTTP, HTTPS, Web Services, AS2 and Certificate)
- Knowledge of authentication and security standards (OAuth2, SAML, SAP Cloud Connector).
- Ability to work in agile development environments (Scrum/Kanban).
- Strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with SAP Event Mesh
- Experience with SAP Cloud Connector and enterprise identity providers (Azure AD / ADFS)
- Knowledge of CI/CD, transport management, and automation on SAP BTP
- Experience with event-driven architecture and asynchronous messaging
- Familiarity with compliance and audit controls (SOX/JSOX, GxP)
- SAP BTP certification or SAP Integration Suite certification
