The Role
Build and own backend platform capabilities powering Lyric’s product teams and AI agents. Responsibilities include designing reusable services and APIs, defining data models, managing concurrency and failure handling, improving performance and observability, and developing agent loops, tools, and orchestration. The role requires end-to-end ownership from problem definition through production iteration, strong systems fundamentals, hands-on startup experience, and clear communication.

About the Company

Why We Built Lyric: Supply chains are more critical and complex than ever. Every day, large enterprises navigate trillions of possible decisions that could impact the bottom line. Powerful algorithms and AI can address these problems, yet most organizations struggle to leverage supply chain AI at scale. The current SCM technologies are either rigid, limited-scope point solutions or custom solutions built in-house, which demand immense expertise and investment.

That is…until now.

Enter Lyric: Lyric is an enterprise AI platform built specifically for supply chains, offering the best of both worlds:

  • Out-of-the-box AI solutions for optimizing networks, allocating inventory, scheduling routes, planning fulfillment capacity, promising orders, propagating demand, building predictions, analyzing scenarios, and more, plus

  • A platform-first approach that empowers both business and technical users with end-to-end product composability, leveraging no-code tools, their own code, or even forking our code to build and refine supply chain decision intelligence

With Lyric, enterprises no longer have to choose between flexibility and speed, they get both.

The Mission: We’re building a new era in supply chain with the team best equipped to lead it. With over 20 years at the intersection of supply chain and algorithms, we developed a deep conviction that global supply chains needed something like Lyric. Since our inception in December 2021, that conviction has been validated time and time again.

Today, a growing number of Fortune 500 companies, including Smurfit WestRock, Estée Lauder, Coca-Cola, and more, are innovating on their own terms with Lyric. We can’t wait to see what our customers, both current and future, are empowered to build with us next. Come build with us!

The role: You'll build the backend platform that Lyric's product teams and AI agents run on, taking ambiguous problems from design to production and owning how they behave there. The work spans core platform services and our agentic layer: the framework for building and orchestrating agents, and the agents built on it. We hire at Senior and Staff levels, set by the scope you demonstrate, not your title.

What you'll own

  • A platform capability end to end: problem, design, build, release, iteration

  • Reusable services, APIs and execution patterns other teams build on

  • Data models, concurrency, failure handling, performance and observability

  • On agentic work: production agent loops, tools and orchestration, and the experiences built on them

What we're looking for

  • Strong fundamentals: problem decomposition, data structures, low-level design, debugging

  • Production systems you personally built and owned, including what broke and how they evolved

  • You can explain APIs, databases and system behaviour below the framework layer; exact stack match matters less

  • Startup experience, a hands-on ownership style and clear communication when the path isn't prescribed

Good to have: Developer platforms, workflow orchestration or services with many downstream consumers; agent evaluation, tracing, tool integration or cost controls; Python depth.

Location: Bengaluru or Chennai, hybrid.

How we hire: Recruiter screen, engineering leadership conversation, a live design and problem-solving round, then a half-day in-office build. Use any AI tools you like and walk us through every decision. We close with a build teardown and a values conversation.

Skills Required

  • Strong fundamentals in problem decomposition, data structures, low-level design, and debugging
  • Personally built and owned production systems, including diagnosing failures and evolving them
  • Ability to explain APIs, databases, and system behavior below the framework layer
  • Startup experience
  • Hands-on ownership style
  • Clear communication when the path is not prescribed
  • Experience with developer platforms, workflow orchestration, or services with many downstream consumers
  • Experience with agent evaluation, tracing, tool integration, or cost controls
  • Deep Python expertise
