About the Role

We are looking for a Platform Engineer to join our growing team! As a Platform Engineer at Kento Health, you will play a key role in advancing the development and deployment of our innovative healthcare platform. You will collaborate with Engineering, Mobile Development, and Product teams to enhance both the web and mobile application experiences of our AI-powered cardiac care solution.

In this role, you will have ownership of building new backend and devOps features for our platform and also working closely with the Engineering lead in improving our current infrastructure, which is focused on reducing the impact of cardiovascular disease. As a member of the team, you’ll help drive continuous care innovations and contribute to the quality of life improvements for patients around the world.

  • Cross-Functional Exposure: You won’t just write code—you’ll collaborate with clinicians, business operations, clients, and end-users. Your work will have a direct impact on improving patient care and business outcomes.

  • Innovation & Execution: You’ll be at the forefront of developing new features that push the boundaries of health tech innovation. At Kento, we value a "get-stuff-done" attitude and will support your drive to see ideas through to implementation.
  • Ownership & Responsibility: You will take full ownership of features specifically on the backend, from concept to deployment, with the freedom to solve problems your way, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Also you will maintain high coding standards and practices to ensure code quality and maintainability.

Requirements (Must have)

  • Must hold a valid work permit and be based in or around Montreal to work 2 days per week in the Montreal office.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in developing and deploying highly scalable backend systems.
  • Strong Proficiency in using containerization tools like Docker.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, Java.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
  • Experience with AWS.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines with tools like CircleCI, GitHub Actions, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL (Dynamodb) databases.
  • Experience designing and scaling backend systems on the cloud.
  • Familiarity with serverless technologies like AWS Lambda.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, debug, and solve complex issues.
  • Familiarity with engineering best practices such as design patterns and unit testing.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Bonus (Nice to have)

  • Experience with other programming languages such as TypeScript, Go etc.
  • Experience or Interest with LLM.
  • Experience in healthcare or a regulated industry.
  • Experience with MLOps.

Interview Process

  1. Initial Discussion with the Engineering manager. 
  2. Technical challenge: A preliminary test to evaluate your technical skills.
  3. Live Coding Session & Technical Interview: A real-time coding session focusing on coding skills, where you will demonstrate your problem-solving abilities. This ensures candidates with genuine coding expertise succeed.
  4. Fit Interview with a Founder: A final interview to assess cultural fit and alignment with our mission and values.
