Signicat is a pan-European digital identity company that makes it easy and safe for organisations to know who they are interacting with online. Using our proprietary technology, we help companies and public organisations securely verify the identities of people and businesses, authenticate users, and enable compliant electronic document signing, so their customers can access services and complete online processes with confidence.
Today, Signicat employs over 530 people across 20 offices in 15 European countries. We work with leading banks, fintechs, telcos, public authorities, healthcare providers, and enterprises across retail and mobility to deliver trusted digital identity and onboarding solutions at scale. Joining Signicat means contributing to a mission that has a real impact on how society works and trusting each other in an increasingly digital world.
Please note that due to the summer holiday season, interviews for this position will resume after August 10th.
About the RoleAs a Platform Engineer focused on AI Operations, you will work on the design and development of Signicat's internal AI Background Agents Platform, empowering our product developers to easily build, test, and deploy their own autonomous agents to accelerate our digital identity capabilities.
We’re looking for an innovative and passionate engineer to join our DevTools team within the Platform Tribe. You’ll help design, build, and manage the software systems, sandboxes, and environments that make these agents secure, observable, and easy to deploy. While the AI Agents Platform is a major focus, you will also actively participate in the day-to-day operations of the DevTools team, contributing to general developer experience (DevEx) initiatives, shared engineering infrastructure, and developer-facing tooling.
How You'll Make An ImpactYou’ll think deeply about systems — their edge cases, failure modes, and lifecycles to architect and construct the self-service APIs, services, and CLI tools that form our internal AI Background Agents Platform.
You’ll build secure, stateful runtime harnesses that host autonomous agents, handling their lifecycles, execution sandboxing, and tool or API invocations.
You’ll design robust CI/CD pipelines and automated GitOps engines to support progressive delivery (canary, blue-green) of both the platform itself and the agents running on it.
You’ll implement core platform security guardrails to defend against execution-level vulnerabilities and prompt injections.
You’ll build centralized distributed tracing and monitoring to give developers complete visibility into multi-step agent decisions, LLM calls, and iteration loops.
You’ll actively contribute to the DevTools team's day-to-day work—maintaining shared developer infrastructure, building general-purpose CLI utilities, and resolving developer experience bottlenecks across the engineering organization.
You'll offer mentorship and guidance on the best ways to design and implement platform-level solutions across all our products.
You design, build, and deploy scalable services and platform APIs.
You have strong production experience using Python and Go to build back-end services or developer-facing tooling.
You have a proven track record of designing clean API contracts and building systems where other software developers are your primary consumers.
You are well-versed in Kubernetes-based environments and deploying containerized workloads.
You have experience with GitOps, continuous delivery patterns, and implementing progressive deployment strategies.
You have a conceptual or hands-on understanding of how LLM-backed systems operate, including memory management, tool calling, and frameworks (such as Google ADK, LangChain, or similar).
You write testable, clean code, design backward-compatible interfaces, and produce high-quality technical documentation.
You have experience with, or a strong interest in, creating reproducible, localized developer workflows using tools like Nix or devenv.
You understand sandboxing techniques (e.g., gVisor, WebAssembly, or isolated Docker runtimes).
You have experience with enterprise observability stacks (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Datadog) to manage and debug distributed services.
This is a wish list, if you have half of it we are already interested!
