Job Summary
We are seeking Full Time Plant Operations team member who will play a key role in ensuring the hospital's equipment, machinery, and physical infrastructure remain in good working condition. This position is responsible for performing unskilled and semi-skilled tasks related to the upkeep and maintenance of hospital grounds and facilities. The Plant Operations team member may also assist higher-skilled maintenance personnel in complex repairs and maintenance activities, help with groundskeeping, manage trash and waste disposal, and drive light trucks for pick-ups and deliveries within the local area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the basic maintenance and repair of hospital equipment, machinery, and physical structures.
- Perform tasks related to the upkeep of hospital grounds, such as mowing, snow removal, and landscaping.
- Assist in the disposal of hospital trash, waste materials, and recyclables, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Drive a light truck for local pickups and deliveries, as needed.
- Act as a helper to more skilled maintenance staff, offering support during repairs or upgrades to hospital systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
- Ensure all tools, materials, and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
- Report any repair needs or safety hazards to the Plant Operations Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Follow safety protocols and use protective equipment when required.
- Respond to emergency maintenance calls and assist with after-hours work as needed.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in maintenance, groundskeeping, or related role is beneficial, but not required.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of maintenance tools and equipment.
- Ability to follow instructions and work cooperatively with skilled tradespeople.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Must be self-motivated.
- Ability to work independently after successful completion of orientation.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for local deliveries.
Working Conditions
- This position involves physical labor and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Exposure to potential hazards such as chemicals, waste materials, and machinery noise.
- May require flexible hours, including some weekends or on-call shifts for emergency maintenance.
