Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance, the Plant Controller will serve as a key member of the Finance and Accounting team. The Plant Controller will lead and optimize the execution of accounting, financial, and analytical functions associated with end-to-end operations across the various manufacturing facilities. This position will work collaboratively with Manufacturing, Procurement, Logistics, Cost Accounting, Finance, and other functional areas to develop KPIs and project-based analyses to provide strategic recommendations to Leadership. This position will also interact with their leader frequently to receive guidance and feedback, but routine decisions within the general scope of the role may be made independently.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage accounting and finance functions associated with Manufacturing, Logistics, and Procurement:
    • Utilize SAP to develop and maintain process mapping to ensure the accuracy of financials in conjunction with cost accounting
    • Develop general plant P&Ls with drilldown capabilities to line-level and shift-level views
    • Partner with Logistics in inventory management and analysis as well as 3PL transactions, reporting, and controls
    • Attend and participate in appropriate functional meetings with operations to provide financial perspective and analysis
    • Lead period (weekly, quarterly, annually) financial reviews of the business operations
    • Provide appropriate financial and management reports
    • Collaborate with Engineering to prepare, analyze, track, and shape our capital project allocation
    • Establish, maintain, and monitor appropriate accounting controls related to Operations and Cost Accounting
    • Partner with Corporate Accounting to ensure proper timing, classification, and depreciation of Fixed Assets in SAP
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, and senior executives to identify improvement opportunities, develop quantifiable target metrics related to these initiatives, and implement tracking and reporting of outcomes
    • Assist in identifying improvement opportunities
    • Lead productivity, efficiency, and variance analysis reporting
    • Perform project effectiveness and profitability postmortem analysis to compare actuals to plan
  • Collaborate with Cost Accounting to manage monthly accounting close functions to ensure the accuracy of financial statements
  • Lead planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes (financial and operational) in conjunction with Corporate Finance team
    • Support development of cost center and departmental budgets and Latest Estimate forecasts (e.g. Overhead cost centers) with Operations Leadership
    • Partner closely with Cost Accounting to review and maintain the costing module and related bill of material, overhead, and labor setup
    • Prepare capital budgets in conjunction with the Engineering team
  • Key contributor to financial and accounting systems within Manufacturing, Logistics, and other operations
    • Partner with D&TS to develop, implement, and upgrade systems as needed
  • Partner with Procurement to track commodities and impact to King's Hawaiian P&L
    • Monitor and report on performance against projections
  • Provide financial support on special projects
  • Recruit, train, manage, and develop staff in the department
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this role


BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. MBA, CPA, or CMA highly preferred
  • At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, with a background in managing accounting and finance functions, financial forecasting, modeling, planning, and managing financial statements required
  • At least five (5) years of experience performing and managing monthly closing activities required
  • Consulting experience is highly valued


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE)

  • Proficient in cost accounting, standard cost methods and systems, and inventory control
  • Proficient in capital project management, manufacturing, inventory management, procurement, and logistics
  • Self-starter with analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with SAP and OneStream is highly preferred
  • High proficiency in Excel and presentation creation
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact and share outcomes with all levels of staff (from executives to peer team members)
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time to Corporate Headquarters in Los Angeles, manufacturing plants, and as other business needs require
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic work environment. Can manage priorities and work independently to make progress on multiple projects simultaneously. Flexible enough to shift priorities frequently as business demands change

We operate in a hybrid model where we are in the office Monday - Wednesday and remote on Thursday and Friday.
