Working closely with Global Technical Services (Digital Planning), ScottishPower Renewables Onshore O&M Technical Operations, Commercial, Remote Control Centre (RCC) and Field Operations teams, to ensure that all generating assets are maintained and inspected as defined within Asset Management Plans to support delivery of the business objectives in line with acceptable standards of safety, technical quality and operational performance.
What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager in the Technical Operations and Projects team, the Planning Engineer will lead the development, establishment and coordination of a coherent work‑planning approach across the Onshore O&M group.
As a key role in fulfilling the requirements of ISO55001 for Asset Management, the planning engineer will be required to lead and influence key stakeholders across all levels of the O&M organisation to ensure developed processes are fully established and embedded in daily activities.
Responsible for the development, creation and management of high-quality workplans for the various activity groups across O&M.
Work scope varies across differing generating technologies and OEMs, the Planning Engineer will be required to work with key stakeholders to develop and formulate effective planning strategies for workstreams impacting any O&M activity, seeking to optimise scheduling, and ensuring effective and efficient coordination of work.
Make use of existing work management and planning tools to ensure activities are managed and controlled across O&M in a consistent and measurable way, allowing effective tracking of progress and management of challenge.
Lead key stakeholders in Technical Operations, Projects, RCC and Field Operations teams to produce Planned Maintenance and inspection activity workplans that are readily integrated with work management and planning tools, seeking to comply with O&M Asset Management Objectives including the scope of business Asset Management Plans.
Lead the development of processes with the O&M Maintenance Quality and Technical Risk functions to ensure that any audit findings and other improvement opportunities are integrated to future workplans in a sustainable and consistent manner.
Work to formulate means of generating regular and automated KPI reporting functions to provide an overview of the planned activities performance and help manage any maintenance backlog.
Work with and influence IT functions to develop and evolve effective software tools to facilitate and drive more efficient planning processes.
Work with stakeholders in the RCC to understand planned network outages and update planned maintenance activities to ensure alignment between planned works and outages.
Co-ordinating and liaising with business areas across SPR to understand implications of proposed works, driving to develop and implement contingency plans to appropriately mitigate risk to delivery of work activities
What you’ll bring
Relevant engineering degree or equivalent technically orientated qualification. Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of academic qualifications.
Experience of leading work planning function in an industrial setting.
Experience in renewables technologies is desirable but not essential.
Experience of working within an organisational Integrated Management System (IMS) and applying relevant policies, procedures, and working practices in day-to-day activities.
Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation.
IT literate, with experience in using generally available software planning and work management tools.
Strong organisational skills, able to work with stakeholders across diverse functions, to deliver sustainable change and improvements to O&M activities by means of effective planning strategies.
Strong interpersonal skills, able to influence without line management responsibility.
Full UK driving license and own transport.
