Role Summary

The Global Planning & Scheduling Lead is responsible for defining, authoring, and enforcing world-class standards for planning and scheduling capital projects across the organization. This role will mentor teams, lead compliance audits, deliver training, and drive continuous improvement, ensuring that best practices are consistently applied across all projects and regions. The successful candidate will be a strategic partner, change agent, and technical authority, enabling the organization to achieve predictable, efficient, and high-quality project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and Author Global Standards
    • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve Project Delivery Work Instructions (PDWI), Best Practices (BP), and Resources (RS) for planning and scheduling.
    • Author and regularly update global standards, procedures, and templates, ensuring alignment with industry benchmarks and organizational strategy.
  • Mentor and Lead Teams
    • Lead, mentor, and coach planning and scheduling professionals globally, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
    • Champion knowledge sharing and professional development through a global community of practice.
  • Enforce Standards and Compliance
    • Design and lead a robust audit and assurance program to monitor compliance with standards and best practices.
    • Conduct periodic audits, identify gaps, implement corrective actions, and report findings to leadership.
  • Training and Capability Building
    • Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs (in-person and virtual) on standards, tools, and methodologies.
    • Provide training on SoP, specifications, and best practices related to scheduling and progress measurement.
  • Schedule Optimization and Constructability
    • Facilitate strategic schedule reviews and constructability workshops, leveraging data and lessons learned to drive innovation and efficiency.
    • Lead schedule optimization exercises to enhance project efficiency, quality, and reliability.
  • Benchmarking and Data Management
    • Establish and curate a global schedule benchmarking repository, enabling data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
    • Maintain a database of schedule benchmarks and utilize insights to inform standards and project planning.
  • Schedule Development and Risk Assessment
    • Provide expert oversight and guidance on schedule development and schedule risk analysis, ensuring robust, realistic, and achievable project plans.
    • Support the development of schedules and schedule risk assessments for capital projects.
  • Global Alignment and Change Management
    • Collaborate with cross-functional and international teams to harmonize planning and scheduling practices across regions and business units.
    • Champion change management initiatives to embed new standards and practices, overcoming resistance and ensuring sustained adoption.
  • Reporting and Communication
    • Regularly communicate progress, challenges, and successes to senior leadership, providing strategic recommendations for improvement.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field, or equivalent experience (8+ years)
  • 10+ years' experience in planning and scheduling large-scale capital projects, preferably in pharmaceutical manufacturing and/or a global context.
  • Experience developing and implementing standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Experience in schedule optimization, constructability, and benchmarking.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard planning and scheduling tools and systems (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, PowerBI).

Preferred Attributes

  • Professional certification (e.g., PMI-SP, AACE) preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$117,000 - $171,600

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
