Position Summary

The Peer Support Specialist provides recovery-oriented support to adults living with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) within Jewish Family Service of Dallas, in partnership with a Clubhouse setting. This role uses lived experience to build meaningful relationships, support member goals, and promote engagement in programming and community life.

What You'll Do

  • Provide one-on-one and group peer support
  • Facilitate groups and assist with daily programming
  • Encourage member engagement, participation, and connection
  • Promote recovery, wellness, and self-advocacy
  • Support members in identifying goals and developing individualized plans
  • Assist with accessing community resources and supports
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation in accordance with program standards
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members
  • Participate in the RISE Program and other program initiatives
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries while using lived experience intentionally
  • Work effectively with diverse populations in a culturally responsive and inclusive manner

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • MHPS required; RSPS is a plus
  • Lived experience with mental health recovery required; substance use recovery experience a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Basic computer skills and ability to complete documentation

Skills Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • MHPS (Mental Health Peer Specialist) certification
  • RSPS (Recovery Support Peer Specialist)
  • Lived experience with mental health recovery
  • Substance use recovery experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
